Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will be happy to know that the service has been updated to include another classic from the Kirby series alongside other titles that originally featured on the Game Boy, NES, and Super NES platforms. Nintendo Switch Online is a tiered subscription service that offers online gaming for Switch titles as well as access to Nintendo's catalog of classic games. The base tier gives players access to the NES, Super NES, and Game Boy libraries. Players who want to access N64 and Game Boy Advance titles will need to subscribe to the pricier Expansion Pack tier.

The addition of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles to the Nintendo Switch Online platform is still a relatively new development that has generated a lot of excitement among players who hope to revisit some of the heavy-hitting titles that originally featured on the historic handhelds. The latest update to Nintendo Switch Online adds four new games to the service.

Kirby's Dreamland 2 and BurgerTime Deluxe are added for Game Boy, while Xevious and SIDE POCKET are the new arrivals for the NES and Super NES libraries respectively. Kirby's Dreamland 2 originally launched for the Game Boy in 1995 as a continuation of the titular hero's adventure that landed with the first batch of Game Boy games for Nintendo Switch Online. BurgerTime Deluxe is an arcade-style puzzle platformer that challenges players to construct hamburgers while avoiding enemies in a maze of ladders and platforms. SIDE POCKET is the SNES port of the arcade billiards game of the same name, while Xevious is a vertical-scrolling shooter in the vein of Twin Bee.

It is likely that some of those subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online will be disappointed with the latest update to the service. Some of the biggest Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games are glaring omissions from the current roster of playable classics. The wildly successful Pokemon games that have historically been system sellers since the debut Red and Blue being the most obvious. At this time it is unknown whether Pokemon games will be added to Nintendo Switch Online at any point.

According to an industry insider the Nintendo Switch OnlineGame Boy and GBA libraries don't have a set release schedule, meaning that the company will continue to drip-feed games from its massive back catalog for these systems somewhat randomly. In fact, this has been the case for the NES and Super NES libraries for some time.
