One of Kirby and the Forgotten Land's rewards for players for a majority of their playthrough is the tease of letting Waddle Dee Town grow bigger and bigger. Right away, after players complete the first proper stage of Downtown Grassland, they can return to Waddle Dee town to see the critters hard at work at rebuilding the place. Throughout the game, as the players save Waddle Dees, the town gains multiple upgrades, and each of them gives something back to the player. Here are all the possible upgrades to Waddle Dee Town and how they're unlocked.

Waddle Dee Town's upgrades are unlocked in three ways. They're either unlocked by reaching a milestone in the player's saved Waddle Dees count (which can be found on the pause screen of Kirby and the Forgotten Land at all times), progressing through the story, or by beating the three cups in the Colosseum. Elfilin will usually let Kirby know when the town has something new to offer fans, but if the upgrade is substantial enough, the game will send players to Waddle Dee Town automatically to check it out.

  • Waddle Dee Cinema: Clear Downtown Grassland. This cinema acts as a way for players to watch important cutscenes again if they'd like to. There's a special figure fans can collect once they've unlocked every cutscene.
  • Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop, Gotcha Machine Alley, Figure Gotcha Vol. 1: Defeat Gorimondo in The Brawl at the Mall. Players may already know these buildings from the trailers Nintendo has shared regarding the game before launch, but once the Weapons Shop is unlocked, this marks the point in which players can start gathering the all-important Blueprints in every level.
  • Waddle Dee Cafe: Save 60 Waddle Dees. Waddle Dee Cafe serves as a way for players to purchase healing items to either eat in town with Elfilin and Bandana Dee, or for players to take it with them as a to-go order as a sub-item they can use in levels and boss fights by pressing the X button.
  • Waddle Dee-liveries: Save 50 Waddle Dees. Once unlocked, players can connect to the internet to receive special presents from Nintendo and Hal Laboratories, as well as redeem some of the many Present Codes either found in town or earned from playing the demo version of the game.
  • Kirby's House: Save 50 Waddle Dees. As a rather cute callback to the Kirby: Right Back At Ya anime, fans can unlock a small house for Kirby to stay in between levels. The building serves a fair few interesting purposes, from having a "Past Adventures" book fans can read to learn about older Kirby titles, allowing fans to display three of their Gotcha figures, or even letting Kirby, Banana Dee, and Elfilin rest to regain full health before tackling levels.
  • Wise Waddle Dee: Defeat Tropic Woods in The Tropical Terror. This Waddle Dee can assist players by using his knowledge to help give players hints on any Blueprints they missed when first exploring previous levels. Wise Waddle Dee can also use the internet to check the world records and milestone stats of every Kirby and the Forgotten Land player worldwide.
  • Figure Gotcha Vol.2, Colosseum: These two upgrades are unlocked as part of the "Waddle Dee Town got bigger" upgrade that fans get upon beating Clawroline in Danger Under the Big Top. With the Colosseum unlocked, players can fight Meta Knight as part of his own cup. There are two other cups to be unlocked once the main story is completed.
  • Waddle Dee's Item Shop: Save 145 Waddle Dees. Two plots of land will be added as part of the "bigger" update, and Waddle Dee's Item Shop is worth the effort to get as fans can get attack and defense boosts, but also an item that doubles their HP when used in exchange for their easy-to-get Star Coins, which will be a huge help with later challenges in the game.
  • Flash Fishing: Save 155 Waddle Dees. While players get a notification that the town has been made "even bigger" by saving that many Waddle Dees, the fishing pond is the only thing unlocked for this milestone.
  • Tilt-and-Roll-Kirby: Save 180 Waddle Dees. Once this requirement is met, a small game booth will be found next to the Item Shop. This gyroscope Kirby-themed puzzle mini-game has three stages and two difficulties, meaning six versions of the game can be played overall.
  • Figure Gotcha Vol.3: Defeat Sillydillo in Collector in the Sleepless Valley.
  • Waddle Live Corner Stage, Figure Gotcha Vol. 4, Power-Up Abilities at the Weapon Shop: Clear Lab Discovera, and therefore clear the main story of the game. These will be available after the credits roll. Waddle Live Corner Stage functionally works as the sound test for fans, and can be upgraded twice for more songs; once for 1,000 Star Coins, and again for 2,000 Star Coins.
  • Observation Tower: Clear Lab Discovera. This is another post-game reward for players due to the fact that the Observation Tower allows fans to go to the post-game challenge levels, Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams.
  • Ultimate Cup: Another post-game reward for players is the addition of the Ultimate Cup in the Colosseum, which lets fans fight all twelve of the game's bosses in a boss-rush mode. For the fans who challenge this cup, they should also talk with one of King Dedede's minions by the Colosseum, as they'll give Kirby the Masked Hammer Blueprint.
  • Ultimate Cup Z: Clear Forgo Land in the Isolated Isles and the Ultimate Cup. This Colosseum cup pits players against all the Phantom enemies seen in Forgo Dreams, including the Kirby series tradition of a "Soul" secret boss.
  • Trader Waddle Dee: Complete Ultimate Cup Z. This Waddle Dee will help players complete their Gotcha figure collections by trading Rare Stones for figurines they don't have already. Players may want to wait to rely on this Waddle Dee until all they have left is a few figures, or only the much rarer ones. Fans also won't get the special figures through this Waddle Dee, requiring unlock conditions for certain figures to still be met.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is available now on Nintendo Switch.
