Kirby may be a cute series about a pink puffball that has a black hole for a stomach, but long-time fans of the franchise will know that the series hides some rather dark secrets within its lore. Typically found in the pause screen, this lore only gives players more depth the higher the difficulty. Most of the higher difficulty challenges in Kirby tend to be found in the post-game, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land is no exception.

While Kirby and the Forgotten Land changes a fair few series staples, including shifting its gameplay to proper 3D, the same can be said for its post-game content. Just as Forgotten Land puts the lore into the figures rather than the pause screen, there's another interesting change to what awaits players once they beat the story, and that would be going through a challenging post-game to learn how to unlock Kirby and the Forgotten Land's true ending.

How to Get Kirby and the Forgotten Land's True Ending

Once players finish the main story of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, they'll unlock a few new features once they go back to Waddle Dee Town. Both of these features play their own roles in getting the true ending to the game.

One is the Observation Tower, which unlocks Forgo Dreams, and the Ultimate Cup, a boss rush mode found in the Colosseum.

In Forgo Dreams, players will find themselves needing to clear six large levels based on previous stages. In the place of Hidden Waddle Dees, fans will need to collect pieces of Leongar's Soul to revive the Beast Pack's leader.

Luckily, while the roughly 50 souls players need to collect is rather intimidating, the game only asks that fans collect 250 of these souls while playing to clear Forgo Dreams.

Players should still prepare themselves, however, as the final stage of Forgo Dreams features a surprise secret boss. These last few post-game levels don't make it that players can ignore the Ultimate Cup, though. '

Fans should work to clear the Ultimate Cup when possible, as clearing both it and Forgo Dreams unlocks Ultimate Cup Z. As the name implies, Ultimate Cup Z is an even harder boss rush mode featuring the upgraded and secret bosses from Forgo Dreams.

There will be spoilers for Kirby and the Forgotten Land's Forgo Dreams levels ahead.

How to Clear Ultimate Cup Z

Ultimate Cup Z is yet another boss rush, featuring all the Phantom versions of previous bosses, Morpho Knight, and two additional secret bosses. In order to get Kirby and the Forgotten Land's true ending, fans must also clear Ultimate Cup Z.

Due to how the boss rush once again uses bosses players have already faced, they shouldn't have too much of a problem. However, Ultimate Cup Z raises the difficulty in quite a few ways, such as offering smaller recovery items in the waiting room that players should be careful about using at the right times.

Another thing that Ultimate Cup Z changes compared to the other Colosseum cups is that this boss rush only offers one Copy Ability between matches for fans to take rather than two or more. Whether players use these abilities is up to them, but the game gives them one Copy Ability that makes the entire mode rather easy.

For those having difficulty, players should use the Morpho Knight Sword as its benefits and powers will definitely make quick work of most of the bosses.

The final boss of Ultimate Cup Z holds onto the Kirby series tradition of "Soul" bosses, which most definitely means it lives up to the challenge of the ones that came before it. Compared to the boss that it's a "Soul" version of, however, fans can rest easy. Where Fecto Elfilis used an unpredictable pattern of attacks, this secret boss follows a set pattern fans can easily memorize.

However, there are two moves in specific players should watch out for during this boss' second phase. The first is that the second phase begins with a black hole attack at the very start, which players will need to be aware of in order to dodge without trouble.

The second is that the boss will occasionally drop rocks from the sky that will eventually form rock towers. Players need to jump or hover over the top of these towers from smallest to biggest in order to dodge the devastating attack that will follow.

There's a way that players can make the boss rush even easier, as well. Once players unlock Waddle Dee's Item Shop, they should invest in the Life Up Item offered and hold onto it until they desperately need it. The Life Up Item not only gives players two bars of health, but it also restores the first bar fully upon use.

Thankfully, just like the other cups at the Colosseum, Ultimate Cup Z has a retry function, but players can only rely on it for so long until they lose all their coins. Once they defeat all twelve bosses, though, they'll get the true ending.

Clearing Ultimate Cup Z also rewards them with two different Gotcha capsule figures, one of which is obtained by unlocking all the cutscenes in Waddle Dee Theater. This puts fans just a few steps closer to 100% completion as a result.
