At the X019 event last year, the developers behind Kingdom Hearts announced that the series would finally be making its way over to the Xbox after all of these years. But, when exactly these titles would release wasn’t specified, and no new official information has released since the original announcement.

Yesterday, however, a new listing went up on the Microsoft store that claimed Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue would come to Xbox starting February 18. However, the listing disappeared from the site just as quickly as it went up, making it hard to determine whether or not the release date could be trusted.

The Microsoft store has made mistakes concerning Kingdom Hearts listings in the past, too. Before Kingdom Hearts 3 Re: Mind released, a Microsoft store listing suggested Kingdom Hearts 3 would be available on PC when the DLC arrived, which didn’t turn out to be the case. With that said, the idea that Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will available mid-February should be taken with a grain of salt, especially since Microsoft took the listing down. Still, the listing could be accurate. It’s possible that an editor over at Microsoft just jumped the gun and posted the listing before Square Enix was ready to announce it.

If this is the case, it's possible other Kingdom Hearts collections will release to Xbox before or with 2.8, as it would be weird otherwise. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 consists of Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By SleepKingdom Hearts 3D, and Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, all of which are titles focusing on the end of the Xehanort Saga. If Square Enix wanted to release these titles as a way to catch Xbox fans up with the series, it would make more sense to release something like 1.5 + 2.5 before 2.8. Then again, Kingdom Hearts 3 is already available for the Xbox One, so releasing the rest of the collections backward doesn’t really matter at this point.

Time will tell whether or not the 2.8 Microsoft listing was either a leak or a mistake. Kingdom Hearts announced that it would release more details on its new Dark Road title in mid-February, so, it may also announce any Xbox-ported games around that time as well, especially since the Microsoft listing claimed a mid-February release date for 2.8.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is available now for the PS4.
