The Kingdom Hearts series is home to some of the most iconic characters in gaming, and if developers at Square Enix play their cards right, Strelitzia will soon be joining their ranks. With the unveiling of the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, fans of the series were given a brief look into what Sora's future might hold, and also, the people he is destined to meet.

Much of the debut trailer centers on the character of Strelitzia, a mysterious young woman who appears to be helping Sora understand his new surroundings. Even though the trailer didn't reveal too much about this new character, the Kingdom Hearts: Union X [Cross] mobile has documented a great deal of how Strelitzia came to feature in the mainline Kingdom Hearts titles.

5 Strelitzia Has A Brother

Fans of Kingdom Hearts who didn't play Kingdom Hearts: Union X [Cross] will likely have little knowledge of Strelitzia or her role in the series, but it seems she is destined to become a much more crucial part of the story in future entries. Though she was only introduced in the mobile game, it seems she has always been connected to the series through her brother, Marluxia.

Before adopting a new name and becoming a member of Organization 13, Marluxia went by the name "Lauriam," and spend the early years of his life as a denizen of Daybreak Town. There, he studied to become a Keyblade-wielder, alongside his sister, Strelitzia. He spent most of the story attempting to locate Strelitzia, only to discover a dire tragedy had befallen her. Though he lost his memories of his past when he transformed into a Nobody, they likely returned after his battle against Sora in Kingdom Hearts 3. If this is the case, perhaps Lauriam and Strelitzia are destined to return to each other's side.

4 Strelitzia Was Murdered

Though Strelitzia seems perfectly healthy in the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, some might be surprised to learn that she met a pretty cruel end in Kingdom Hearts: Union X [Cross]. As if this wasn't shocking enough, the individual who dealt the killing blow to Strelitzia is a character fans of the series will likely have come to know and love if they played Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.

It may come as a shock at first, but Ventus was the one who killed Strelitzia. This takes a long time to be revealed, but it is arguably one of the biggest twists in the entire game. Thankfully, Ventus gets partially redeemed when the darkness in his heart reveals itself to be taking control of Ventus to enact its wishes. In the end, Strelitzia's life was taken from her because of the darkness in Ven's heart, and though Ventus didn't mean to inflict any harm, he is still somewhat responsible for what happened.

3 Strelitzia's Role As A Union Leader

Not only did Strelitzia's death prevent her from finding friendship, but it also stopped her from becoming a Union Leader. Before she vanished, Master Ava made a list of five Keyblade-wielders who she felt would make fine leaders during her absence. Strelitzia was on this list, but she never gained the chance to fulfill Ava's wishes, as Ventus struck her down and stole her copy of the Book of Prophecies.

Strelitzia was destined to become a Union Leader, and even though Ventus proved himself to be a capable replacement, his position in Ava's ranks wasn't exactly deserved. Sadly, without Ventus, the remaining Dandelions may not have survived the darkness plaguing the world, so Strelitzia's death needed to happen. However, it seems Strelitzia will be playing a much more crucial role in Kingdom Hearts 4, especially since her existence in Quadratum was planned by the Master of Masters.

2 Strelitzia's Desire For Friendship

In Kingdom Hearts: Union X [Cross], Strelitzia's only want in life is to have some friends, the player's character specifically. She may not have had much time to pursue this goal during the game's story, but it was clear that she longed for someone she could be friends with, and also that she was determined to gain the player's attention.

Even though she had a loving brother to support her, Strelitzia desired friendship above all else. Sadly, she never really got the chance to experience it, but this could all change in Kingdom Hearts 4with Sora by her side.

1 How Strelitzia Ended Up In Quadratum

Strelitzia's story is possibly one of the saddest in the entire Kingdom Hearts series. Her time in Kingdom Hearts: Union X [Cross] was short-lived, but it looks like she will be getting a much-needed moment to shine in Kingdom Hearts 4 now that she has Sora as a companion. According to the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, Strelitzia believes Quadratum is acting as a sort of afterlife for both her and Sora. Even though this seems like an accurate assumption, Strelitzia reached Quadratum via slightly different means than how Sora did.

Right before Daybreak Town fell into disarray, Elrena's Chirithy came to inform the remaining Union Leaders of an interesting discovery. According to the young Spirit, Strelitzia was seen wandering through Daybreak Town alongside Luxu, a former Union Leader. Seeing as Luxu managed to transport Brain to the future, it doesn't seem too unlikely that he is also the reason Strelitzia reached Quadratum. Sadly, the exact means of how she managed to escape Daybreak Town are yet to be divulged, but it would make sense if Luxu was behind it all along. The Master of Masters referred to Strelitzia as a "true Dandelion." Given that he appears to be transfixed with assembling pure lights, he may very well have planned for Strelitzia to end up in Quadratum alongside him.
