Kingdom Hearts Dark Road will introduce several new characters into the series lore. The game released the names of these individuals earlier on in the month but didn't provide any details on who they were, not in English anyway. Japan received these new Dark Road character profiles before others, so they've been out in Japanese for a while.

As of today, however, the official Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Twitter account has gone ahead and released translated versions for the international crowd unfamiliar with the language. Each major Dark Road character has a profile to themself, including Xehanort and Eraqus.

Every profile provides a quote from the character featured and a small summary of who they are and what they're like. The profiles of Xehanort's friends do confirm that their personalities and roles take traits from the mythological Norse beings that they're named after. Urd is prudent; Bragi is passionate; Vor is gifted, and Hermond acts as the group's older brother.

Then there's Master Odin, who comes off as the most interesting of the lot. His profile claims that not much is known about him, but teases all of that will change with Dark Road's release. It also notes that Odin only shows "a single, piercing eye," which reflects one of the reasons behind his name and his possible connection to Xehanort's Gazing Eye Keyblade.

The first Dark Road trailer doesn't show off much of these characters, but it does show how the game plays. Like the character profiles, the trailer initially released in Japanese, but an official English translation has since launched. The voice acting hasn't changed to English, but the captions have.

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road's releases on Monday. It will be a world-wide launch, so everyone will be able to play it at the same time. Because the game exists alongside Union Cross, it will likely have the same story layout, meaning it will release in segments over weeks. It's still unknown if it will take as long to complete as Union Cross'.

Hopefully, it doesn't, though, as the game won't answer its biggest question until the end, that being what exactly happened to all these characters. The only one Xehanort seems to keep in contact with once everything concludes is Eraqus, which seems strange considering the collective profiles suggest everyone was close to one another.

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road launches on June 22, 2020, for iPhone, Android, and Amazon devices.
