Kingdom Hearts 3, the latest title in Square Enix's Disney collaboration action-RPG, has just received its first DLC expansion. Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind expands upon the story of the base game, offering three new scenarios that are unlocked in sequential order.

The first of these scenarios, Re Mind, centers around Sora's attempts to rescue Kairi. The second, Limit Cut Episode, is seen from the perspective of Sora's allies, while the third, Secret Episode, sees Sora facing off against a stranger in the Final World. It's at this point that the game's multiple endings diverge, so to make sure players get the one they want, here's our guide to unlocking them.

Duel in the Final World

Reaching the endings of Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind isn't as straightforward as playing through its story. In order to unlock the final scenario, the Secret Episode, players must not only have completed the DLC's plot, but also defeated the 13 Limit Cut bosses. Defeating these bosses will unlock the Secret Episode, and eventually lead to the Secret Boss himself.

From this point on there are two ways the game can go, and it all depends on how players deal with Yozora, the Secret Boss. At the end of the Secret Episode players will be forced to fight Yozora, and will receive a different ending if they win or lose the battle. If Sora defeats Yozora, the boss will turn into light particles, before awakening in a car. If Sora is defeated however, he will find himself turned into Crystal. Yozora still awakes in the car in this "bad ending", but the narration over the final scene won't be the same.

Who is the Secret Boss

There has been some speculation among fans of the Kingdom Hearts series that Yozora is actually a known Final Fantasy character. The most striking argument for this theory is his physical resemblance to Noctis, protagonist of Final Fantasy 15.

Seeming to confirm the theory is the ending scene of Yozora waking in the moving car. This scene is an almost shot-for-shot remake of part of the trailer for the cancelled Final Fantasy Versus 13. In the trailer we see Noctis, who was initially meant to appear in Final Fantasy Versus 13 before its cancellation,  being driven through a city. In the Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind ending the scene is virtually identical. Whether this is a hint at something larger to come, or just a throwback for the fans, is yet to be seen.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
