Take this one with a grain of salt: Kingdom Hearts 3 might be making its way over to the PC when its upcoming DLC, Re: Mind, drops. The DLC only has a month left before it releases, however, so a PC port seems unlikely.

While it's possible that Square Enix has been working on a PC port of the game, had it any intention of releasing it alongside Re: Mind, it surely would have mentioned it in the final trailer that released for the DLC at the beginning of this month.

Still, this does come from a Microsoft store listing of Kingdom Hearts 3, specifically, for the Re: Mind version, so this could have some legitimacy. It works like this: the installation methods for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Kingdom Hearts 3 Re: Mind deviate from one another on the Microsft store. The installation for the original version of the game states, "Install on your home Xbox One console plus have access when you're connected to your Microsoft account." The Re: Mind version, however, reads, "Get this app while signed in to your Microsoft account and install on your Windows 10 devices."

The installation of the base game limits installing to the Xbox One alone - as expected. The installation of Re: Mind, however, leaves things a little more open-ended. The Re: Mind installation counts Re: Mind as an app, though, and not DLC, so this could very well be a copy-editing error on Microsoft's part. It wouldn't be the first time it's happened with an online store listing.

On the other hand, the Kingdom Hearts series has been branching out to other major consoles lately. Initially only available on handhelds or the PlayStation series, Kingdom Hearts did things differently with Kingdom Hearts 3 by making it available on the Xbox One. Square Enix also announced at the Xo19 event that the rest of the Kingdom Hearts series would come to Xbox sometime next year. It's not unlikely then that Kingdom Hearts 3 (and possibly the rest of the series) finds itself ported to the PC to cap off its availability on the three biggest gaming machines for multi-platform titles.

If this turns out to be the case, maybe Square Enix isn't done promoting Re: Mind just yet. Ever since Final Fantasy characters were confirmed to return to the series, fans have been waiting to see if the publisher will announce Cloud and Sephiroth returning for Re: Mind before the DLC releases. An announcement that Kingdom Hearts 3 will receive a PC port could go hand-in-hand with this.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
