Kingdom Hearts 3 debuted back at E3 2013, and fans have waited five years to learn when they can their hands on the game. This week, Square Enix announced that fans can expect Kingdom Hearts 3early next year. The game has been delayed several times, so one more delay comes as little surprise.

Fans of the series attending E3 get some hands-on time with the upcoming game, as Square Enix brought a playable demo to the big show. Fans will get to have a first-hand experience of Sora’s new and returning abilities, as well as a chance to potentially see new worlds coming to the game. The gameplay event last month had a playable version of the Toy Box so perhaps E3 attendees will get to spend some time with Woody and friends.

The trailer also showed some more hints at the bigger plot of Kingdom Hearts 3, including the return of some fan-favorite characters. During the trailer, several Organization XIII members made appearances, as well as Lea and Kairi. It’s clear that Square Enix is bringing everything together for a big finale with Kingdom Hearts 3.

The new trailer shows off some exciting new abilities and story elements for the game. Hopefully fans will be able to see more of Kingdom Hearts 3 during the E3 conference, perhaps at Sony’s panel later this evening.

Kingdom Hearts 3 releases on January 29 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
