Square Enix’s role-playing game series Kingdom Hearts arguably has a close place in the hearts of its fans. With various titles being released in the span of a decade, Kingdom Hearts has undoubtedly built a niche following of hardcore fans over the years. With no new updates about a fourth title, and with KHUX finally ending its main story, fans have recently found an online video of Kingdom Hearts 2 that is sending them on a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

The Kingdom Hearts series is very well-known for the non-linear way it tells its story. Though the main numbered titles focus on energetic keyblade wielder Sora and his friends, the various spin-off games provide smaller plot pieces that help make up the bigger picture. This makes it hard for fans to ignore these smaller titles, as it gives clues, and even provides secret trailer videos, to help them understand the current whole narrative of the Kingdom Hearts series.

On social media platform TikTok, user archivethe00s shared an old video of Kingdom Hearts 2, stating that it was their favorite game of all time. Playing on a dated television set, the user stated that it was a commercial of the game. The commercial also showed that it was commonly showcased in big gaming retailer GameStop. According to TikTok, the video was uploaded in 2006, a good year after Kingdom Hearts 2 was launched in 2005. Most fans will likely recall KH2 as the direct sequel of the 2002 original Kingdom Hearts title for the PlayStation 2.

In the video, the commercial provides a brief glimpse into the story, the Disney characters, and various worlds that Sora will encounter. The music played to accompany the video was a cover of the KH2 main theme song “Sanctuary,” which was originally sung by Japanese music artist Hikaru Utada. Most fans know Utada for her mainstay vocal performances in the series, first in Kingdom Hearts, then in KH2, then recently collaborating with Skrillex for Kingdom Hearts 3. As of writing, the TikTok video already has 13,900 likes, with 389 comments, indicating that many Kingdom Hearts are on the platform, and are showing their appreciation of the game as well.

Given that Kingdom Hearts’ main guy Tetsuya Nomura is currently busy heading Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Origin, it may be a while before the fanbase will hear news about another title in the KH series. However, fans are holding out on hope that official news will come in the future, given that Kingdom Hearts: Memory of Melody clearly indicates that Sora’s journey is not over yet.
