A new trailer for Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game has been released, highlighting the gameplay loop and release date of June 4 alongside a February 21 pre-order date. The game will be available on PC and other platforms. There has not been much traction for the Killer Klowns franchise since the initial release of the movie, but over the last couple of years, the Chiodo Brothers have tried to get more Klowns content greenlit. Perhaps recognition of the cult-classic movie as an '80s icon has grown, which could have led to this game's production.

When the original trailer for Killer Klowns from Outer Space released last year, there seemed to be some confusion as to why the title needed a game and what that game would entail, but there was excitement. A cult-classic property, the game is inspired by the 1988 movie of the same name, a science-fiction horror-comedy film by the creative minds of the Chiodo Brothers, who, outside this movie, have become popular for their special effects, puppetry, and stop-motion talents, credited with work on productions such as The Simpsons, Elf, and Team America: World Police.

  • Pre-order Date: February 21, 2024
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X/S

Reiterating on the formula of its previous games like Friday the 13th, co-developer IllFonic recreated aspects of the movie while offering its own fresh spin. One team of three players will take the roles of the five self-explanatory classes of Klowns: Trapster, Tracker, Scout, Fighter, and Tank, each coming with their own unique perks and drawbacks to suit different play styles. The opposing team consists of the citizens of Crescent Cove, humans who have banded together to fight back, searching for loot and weapons to use against the Klowns as they make their escape.

The more gameplay is shown, the more excited fans get at the potential for this game to be a good one. Prior to handing the game off to IllFonic and Teravision Games, former publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment released trailers like one comparing the game side by side with the Killer Klowns film, as well as one that features the Chiodo Brothers discussing their involvement in the game. Until release, gamers will have to wait for the next batch of information.
