Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is allegedly considering a significant leadership change after Avengers: Secret Wars. According to a rumor, Feige is contemplating taking over Star Wars after the Multiverse Saga.

Avengers: Secret Wars is the culmination of Marvel Studios' currently-running Multiverse saga. If rumors are accurate, the film will include several heroes from pre-MCU movies, including Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. Avengers: Secret Wars is also rumored to offer a clean slate for the MCU and potentially its leader.

Marvel's Echo TV Show Will Kick Off A Refreshing Change For The MCU

Echo offers some much-needed representation for the MCU, but it looks like it could also help make the franchise more welcoming to newcomers.

According to MyTimeToShineHello, Feige is considering leaving Marvel Studios and leading the Star Wars franchise. Although Kathleen Kennedy's Lucasfilm contract was renewed through 2024, MyTimeToShine claims Kennedy's time as the Star Wars franchise's leader will end sooner than expected. While these claims remain unsubstantiated by official sources, both rumors arrive as the MCU and Star Wars franchises are experiencing creative difficulties in the eyes of many.

Recent Marvel Studios projects have experienced underwhelming box office numbers or reactions, like the negatively-reviews Ant-Man 3. Except for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the MCU hasn't resonated with audiences as before Avengers: Endgame concluded the Infinity Saga. Similarly, Star Wars is having trouble maintaining fan interest or even getting a new film off the ground. Several developing Star Wars movies have been shelved or outright canceled over the nearly four years since The Rise of Skywalker premiered in cinemas, and even fan-favorite Ahsoka lost viewers as its first season ran.

It was recently reported that Marvel Studios was considering an Avengers reboot with the original team, including Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. While some fans were excited, others saw it as a desperate move that would render the events of Avengers: Endgame inconsequential.

Some fans already believe Marvel could benefit from a leadership change. This is not necessarily a dig at Feige, who was instrumental in building the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the beloved and successful franchise it is. However, nothing lasts forever, and if Avengers: Secret Wars is going to reboot the MCU, perhaps it would be the right time for Feige to have a fresh start as well.

Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to be released in theatres on May 7, 2027.
