As it turns out, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League won’t be Kevin Conroy’s final performance as Batman after all, as the late actor had recorded lines for two other projects before his passing in late 2022. Conroy first voiced The Dark Knight of DC Comics lore in the classic Batman: The Animated Series of the 1990s, and his distinct, deep tone quickly became the defining voice of the character for many fans. He would reprise his role in various shows, films, and games over the years before he passed away from cancer at the age of 66, with one of his most notable performances being Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series.

Due to both Kevin Conroy’s passing and the ending of 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight, fans weren’t expecting to see The Dark Knight return once more in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but it was confirmed that Batman would be one of the brainwashed enemies Task Force X comes up against during the game. Conroy would be voicing the Arkhamverse Batman posthumously, and for the longest time it was believed that Suicide Squad marked his final performance as the Caped Crusader. Suicide Squad even includes an in-game tribute to Kevin Conroy, as well as original Harley Quinn voice actor Arleen Sorkin.

Kevin Conroy Will Return To DC Two More Times

Kevin Conroy’s return as the Arkhamverse Batman in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been a divisive subject for many over the past year or so, given the game’s basic premise of players killing heroes like The Dark Knight and the many controversies surrounding Suicide Squad’s live-service gameplay model. Those who have played Suicide Squad in early access have mixed feelings about how the game handles Batman’s character, leaving fans worried that Kevin Conroy’s incredible legacy as the Caped Crusader would end on a bad note. Others believe that Suicide Squad’s in-game tribute to Conroy is quite touching and a worthy nod to the actor who defined Batman for generations of DC fans.

Those who feel that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League wasn’t the send-off that Kevin Conroy deserved can now take comfort in the fact that it seemingly won’t be his last time voicing Batman after all. While it isn’t clear if he is playing The Dark Knight in Batman: Caped Crusader, he will return as the version of the character he first brought to life in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part Three. There is also MultiVersus, the Warner Bros. crossover fighting game that is set to relaunch sometime later this year and includes Kevin Conroy’s Batman among its roster.
