Kentucky Route Zero is in the news again. After its stunning debut and becoming one of the best underrated games of 2014, another chapter is hopefully on its way very soon.

Originally released in 2013, Kentucky Route Zero is a magical, fantastical game about the adventures of Conway, the truck driver who stumbles on the mysterious Route Zero. This point-an-click adventure game has a 9/10 rating on Steam and was recognized as one of the best game narratives in 2015, and people seem to really love the simplistic art style and interesting story. In 2018, the devs of the game set up a hotline that gamers could call to get the updates for the next chapter of the game.

On January 5th, 2020, a fan and writer, Carolyn Petit, called the hotline, and was surprised to hear a countdown. The automated message told her that she had an estimated waiting time of "3814 minutes," making her suspect that Kentucky Route Zero would have an announcement or release on January 7th, 2020. Fans instantly were excited; it's been exactly seven years since the last chapter released, and they are hungry for more.

In more great news, the devs announced the released of Kentucky Route Zero as a TV edition for the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One as well. Hopefully that release will also come around this month, making the game accessibly no matter what format players would like to play the last chapter of this amazing episodic indie game on.

Between the hype already created with the hotline in 2018 and the announcement of the TV edition, fans are ready for whatever comes for Conway and the mysterious Kentucky Route Zero. The hotline was such a great idea to get fans ready and get others who have never heard of the game interested. It's a great gimmick for an indie company to drum up anticipation for the chapter's eminent release. Hopefully players will finally have their patience rewarded on January 7th with the released of the fifth and final chapter of Kentucky Route Zero.

Kentucky Route Zero will be available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in 2020, and is now available for PC.
