Kenshi is a game that gives players an open but dangerous world to explore. While it can be bleak, it is up to the player to make the post-apocalypse their home and make their character's life easier. Unfortunately, this game can make that process quite a challenge with roving bands of aggressive NPCs, fighting factions, and classic survival mechanics to maintain.

It is more than likely that players will find their character in need of first aid equipment quite often in Kenshi's world. Figuring out this mechanic, however, can be a bit of a challenge, particularly for those who are new to the game. Thankfully, anyone looking to find their way to better health can do so with the help of this guide.

Where to Find First Aid in Kenshi

While roaming the world, characters will be randomly attacked by different NPCs. Characters of all the races within Kenshi need to be healed after they take damage. While some damage can heal over time, for every race except Skeletons, first aid kits and splint kits are going to be required to fully heal any wounds. These items can be easily found at the merchants spread around the world. For example, the bar within the Hub (a city in the center of the Border Zone) is home to one such merchant.

Like many items in the game, the value of basic first aid kits varies but is usually around 80 Cats, the in-game currency in Kenshi. Fortunately, one basic first aid kit comes with numerous charges and can therefore be used for multiple injuries. If players can't afford one of these, NPCs typically have one in their inventory to steal.

How to Use First Aid in Kenshi

Kenshi's freedom can lead to some confusion, but, when it comes to healing, the controls are relatively straightforward. Firstly, players need to have the healing item in the inventory of the character that needs to be healed. Next, they should right-click on that character (the mouse will appear like a green cross). The character will then begin applying the first aid kit to their wounds. It is best to do healing within a character's house in Kenshi and away from any potential harm as it takes a bit of time.

While a character can heal partially over time, certain wounds absolutely require first aid kits and other medical interventions. One of the best places for a heavily injured character to be is in bed and these can be rented or crafted in the game. While in bed, a character's hunger meter decreases significantly slower and wounds will not get any worse. Kenshi is a challenging game and characters will take serious damage quite quickly, so it is important that players treat wounds as soon as possible.

Kenshi is available on PC.
