Kena: Bridge of Spirits Coming to Xbox on August 15

Ember Lab has now confirmed that this multi-award-winning title will be making the jump to Microsoft's consoles, scheduling its Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S debut for August 15. This turn of events may not come as a surprise to the most attentive of fans, as the existence of the Xbox version of Kena: Bridge of Spirits has already been leaked via an ESRB rating back in April 2024. Xbox users will also get a chance to grab a physical edition of the game, which will be published by Maximum Entertainment. Physical release pre-orders are planned to go live by mid-June 2024.

The PlayStation and PC editions of the critically-acclaimed action-adventure regularly retail at $39.99. The Xbox version of the game is expected to hit the market at the same price point. The upcoming port is also poised to include all of the many updates that Kena: Bridge of Spirits received over the years, which expanded the game with some major additions, including extra gear and challenges, as well as a New Game Plus mode.

The game itself has received widespread praise for its eye-candy visuals and a tight gameplay loop that offers immense variety, combining exploration and puzzle-solving with free-flowing and fast-paced combat. Its story puts players in the shoes of the titular Kena, a spirit guide on a quest to find a sacred mountain shrine. Her adventure also provides her with opportunities to free tiny spirit companions known as the Rot, which can then be added to her team and directed to complete a variety of tasks, like distracting enemies or moving objects.

Ember Lab went to great lengths to make the most of this mechanic, using it as the basis for a plethora of varied puzzles and traversal challenges. This gameplay diversity amassed plenty of plaudits, helping Kena: Bridge of Spirits win several indie-game-of-the-year awards.
