The upcoming John Wick spinoff film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas has been garnering a fair bit of attention lately, and now Keanu Reeves has offered a few tidbits regarding what viewers will see in this new tale of discovery and revenge. Reeves will be handing off the leading role reigns to a new character for this movie, but that doesn't necessarily mean he won't make an appearance.Ballerina will feature Knives Out star de Armas in the lead role as a young woman seeking revenge against the people who killed her family, utilizing the lethal skills she possesses. It certainly sounds like John Wick fans will be right at home with this one. Little else is known about the spinoff, save for the fact that it will feature several returning actors from the John Wick movies. But thanks to a recent appearance from Reeves, there's now a slightly clearer picture for those hungry for more info.RELATED: Is John Wick Based On Ancient Mythology?During a John Wick panel at Comic-Con Experience 2022, Reeves spoke about the upcoming film while briefly teasing his involvement. "I got to be in it, so I'm in it for a few sequences," he confirmed in a Twitter video posted by Collider's Steve Weintraub. "So that was nice. They're filming right now, and the script's great, the story's cool. Looking forward to it." It was already known that Reeves and Ian McShane would appear in Ballerina, but it's nice to hear it straight from the source. As for what their involvement will be, it's difficult to say. While the characters are connected to the John Wick universe, Armas' titular dancer/killer will be front and center this time.[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/colliderfrosty/status/1599415905699524608[/EMBED_TWITTER]"[She is a] woman who has some very difficult circumstances and who's looking for revenge," Reeves continued, offering an idea of Ballerina's premise. "Whoever killed her - someone killed her father. But who could that be? And so it's her journey for actually understanding her past. She lost her father at a young age, and she doesn't really know what happened. Only that someone came into the house and killed her father, who had a tattoo. And as we know in John Wick, if you have a tattoo, something's going on." Between tattoos and plenty of impeccably-dressed characters, John Wick does run the gamut of fashion choices, that's for sure.At first glance, Ballerina seems like a repeat of the John Wick formula with little more than a fresh coat of paint. It's certainly understandable why one would think that, particularly given the inherent draw of the film series' addictive action and revenge plots. But there's more to this one, from the new characters to Armas' insistence on a female writer for the project. So while the parallels are undeniable, they may be intentional as well. For the time being, at least, it seems like there's always room for more John Wick-style movies. So, a film like Ballerina that already has that inherent connection is sure to scratch that itch at least a little bit for fans of this particular movie style. Here's hoping it ends up as successful as it strives to be.Ballerina is currently in production.MORE: Andor: What’s In Store For Season 2?Source: Steve Weintraub/Twitter
