In a series focused on gambling, there's no shortage of entertaining games. It's safe to say that the enticing Yumeko Jubami spiced things up significantly. Wagers made at Hyakkaou Academy often risk more than financial loss, as lives are put on the line when the stakes need to be raised in the Kakegurui series.

Unlike Kakegurui Compulsive Gambler, Kakegurui XX is essentially one big game. Kirari Momobami puts her Presidential position on the line during the Election, inviting every student (and the Hundred Devouring Families) to claim the title by winning enough votes. Within this Election, a plethora of mini-games emerges.

9 Indian Poker

Kakegurui Best Games Indian Poker aka Debt Swopping Game Mary Saotome and Jun Kiwatari
  • Dealer: Sayaka Igarashi
  • Participants: Yumeko, Mary, Jun Kiwatari, and Nanami Tsubomi

Each participant bets a chip (representing the value of 1/10th of their declared debt) and receives a face-down card. After secretly viewing the card, each player receives a second to display on their forehead, without looking at the value. A pair of numbers is a dominating set, followed by a pair of suits, and lastly, a pig (where nothing matches). The player with the highest valued set of cards wins, and swaps their debt with the loser's.

Indian Poker is significant concerning the development of Mary Saotome and Yumeko's relationship. During this match-up, Mary's resentment towards the ebony-haired vixen begins to dissipate. The event is a strange gamble (with obvious cheating) but Jun bites off more than he can chew and ends up swapping his menial (and fake) debt with Mary, losing Nanami's loyalty.

  • Winner: Mary
  • Total Earnings: Essentially, a 310 million yen debt reduction

8 The Finger Guillotine

Kakegurui Best Games Finger Guillotine Yumeko, Midari, Erimi and Ryota Suzui
  • Judge: Inaho Yamato
  • Participants: Yumeko, Midari, and Erimi

Each player places their finger in the slot of a contraption that suspends a guillotine by a string. Choosing from multiple twines, participants take turns cutting a tether, potentially releasing the blade. The winner isn't necessarily the one who walks away unharmed, but rather the one who displays the most bravery. Any player who withdraws their finger is eliminated, and the last one standing wins.

The most intriguing part of this episode is determining the authenticity of the alleged danger. Erimi Mushibami believes that the blade won't reach their fingers, but Yumeko's intervention creates doubt. Unfortunately, Midari ruins everyone's fun by cutting the final two strings simultaneously, invoking further abhorrence from Yumeko.

  • Winner: Yumeko
  • Total Earnings: Two Election Chips

7 Tarot Cards Of Fate

Kakegurui Best Games Tarot Cards of Fate Ryota Suzui and Yumeko
  • Judge: Runa Yomozuki
  • Participants: Yumeko, Ryota, and Kirari

A deck of Tarot Cards is arranged along a circular table at random, with each card denoting a specific value. If the chosen card is upside down, the participant will have the appropriate negative value. One player hopes for a positive total, whereas their opponent represents the negative numbers. For three rounds, each player selects a card, and the points from all three cards are tallied. Finding the Joker guarantees victory.

It's not the most complex game, but watching Yumeko go up against Kirari Momobami is exceptionally entertaining, especially once Ryota succumbs to Yumeko's will. Though the winning card could have been ascertained by analyzing the sticky residue Runa left behind, Ryota leaves everything to intuitive guesswork.

  • Winner: Draw
  • Total Earnings: Kirari and Yumeko are permitted to stay at Hyakkaou Academy.

6 The Coupling Party

Kakegurui Best Games Coupling Party Mary, Tsuzura Hanatemari, Yukimi Togakushi, and Chitose Inui
  • Judge: Mikura Sado
  • Participants: {Mary, Tsuzura Hanatemari, Yukimi Togakushi, Kurumi Kurume and Chitose Inui} against {Kanade Musubi, Mamoru Kuonji, Ren Kochi, Haruto Kibashira and Nobuya Sera}

In this faux dating game, each girl discreetly declares their "love" for a boy. If he secretly selected the same girl, they are considered a successful couple. If successful, the boy wins whatever the lovely lady bet; meanwhile, an unsuccessful paring would see the girl lining her pockets. The women can lower their losses by essentially selling their bodies (ironically dubbed a "Maiden's promise").

Unfortunately for the ladies, there is a traitor in their midst who set them up for failure in Round 1. Tsuzura takes all the heat, and Mary's resolve is tested when she gets the opportunity to play again, using the "spend the night" Maiden's promise. Mary learns that she needn't be suspicious of everyone and ends up winning the game for the girls, ensuring that Chitose pays for her deception.

  • Winners: Mary, Tsuzura, Yukimi, and Kurumi
  • Total Earnings (2nd Round): 2 million yen each

5 The ESP Game

Kakegurui Compulsive Gambler, Kakegurui XX, Kakegurui Twin Midari Ikishima
  • Dealer: Ryota Suzui
  • Participants: Yumeko and Midari

Using a pack of cards with four distinct designs, each player must guess the sequence in which the dealer will lay out the cards. The dealer sits in a separate room and displays their cards via a live camera feed. Before selecting a pattern, each participant must load a revolver with 0-6 bullets. The winner of each round picks a gun at random and fires it at their opponent. If they miss on purpose, the wielder is penalized by having the weapon turned on them.

Yumeko's life is placed in Ryota's hands, but he surprises everyone, and the pair perfectly read each other's intentions. The extent to which Midari will go to end her own life is emphasized, as well as Yumeko's vexation for those who rig a game in their favor.

  • Winner: Yumeko
  • Total Earnings: One billion yen

4 The Greater Good Game

Kakegurui XX The Greater Good Game The Election Committee
  • Judge: Rumia Uru
  • Participants: Yumeko, Itsuki, Kaede, Ibara, and Miroslava

Five players individually enter a room and secretly deposit their coins (5 per round) into either their personal savings or the group tax box. The tax collection is doubled and split among the players, and the winner is declared when the first participant reaches 40 coins. As only five rounds are played, it's impossible for anyone to win without someone paying tax. Up to three players may be eliminated for suspicious activity (such as tax evasion).

The game gives viewers insights into each character. Surprisingly, Yumeko is essentially the most deceptive player, having seemingly spent very few coins on tax. Itsuki shows how manipulative she can be by getting Miroslava eliminated, winning the pot in the end.

  • Winner: Itsuki (although her side-bet with Terano Totobami technically nullifies her victory)
  • Total Earnings: 100 Election votes

3 Nim Type Zero

Kakegurui Best Games Nim Type Zero Yumeko and Ryota against Miyo and Miri with Runa as judge
  • Dealer: Runa Yomozuki
  • Participants: Yumeko and Ryota (and Mary) against Miyo and Miri

With a deck of cards numbered 0-3, each player sits opposite their teammate and draws four cards, to be revealed one at a time. The objective is to keep the total tally below 9, while placing bets, calling, raising, or folding as each card gets used. Teamwork is essential, as a player might avoid trouble by unintentionally landing their partner in hot water.

While Nim Type Zero might not be flashy, the underhanded tactics add to the suspense when Yumeko's life is put on the line. Mary steps in to take her place and, together with Ryota, outplays Miyo Inbami and Miri Yobami at their own game, subsequently causing Miri to be hospitalized in Yumeko's place.

  • Winners: Mary and Ryota
  • Total Earnings: 10,000 Election votes and three vials of the cure

2 Tower of Doors

Kakegurui Best Games Tower of Doors Yumeko against Sayaka with Kirari Momobami
  • Judge: Kirari Momobami
  • Participants: Yumeko against Sayaka

In an elaborate tower, participants take turns deciphering puzzles, whereby the correct answer will unlock a route downstairs. They are each granted five minutes before all doors lock and their turn ends. Beginning on the 5th floor, each player must make their way to the first floor, collect a lily, and return to the top. The first to succeed wins.

Sayaka appears to have the upper hand, showing no strain at deciphering the cryptic codes. Viewers are kept in the dark regarding Yumeko's progress, the first sign that things aren't as clear-cut as they seem. The ever-rebellious Yumeko does the unthinkable by wasting a turn to "look at the moon," unexpectedly solving the mystery of the Tower in the process.

  • Winner: Yumeko
  • Total Earnings: Allowed to remain at the Academy and continue gambling

1 Choice Poker

Kakegurui Best Games Choice Poker Kaede, Yumeko and Kirari Momobami
  • Dealer: Vice-President Ririka (later revealed to be Kirari Momobami)
  • Participants: Yumeko against Kaede

Five cards are dealt to each player, who can exchange cards to obtain a satisfactory hand. The standard Poker ranking system is still valid, but the choice factor comes in when determining the value of the ranks, potentially flipping the tables. The player who paces the highest bet determines the winning "strength," and the Joker ensures a strong hand only.

This game had viewers on the edge of their seats, as Yumeko and Kaede's bets grew more and more outlandish. Itsuki joins the fun by financing Yumeko, and two of the wealthiest students at Hyakkaou Academy enter into a fierce bidding war. Things intensify further when life plans are thrown into the pot, as each participant effectively sells their soul to the devil to win.

  • Winner: Yumeko (and Itsuki)
  • Total Earnings: 3 billion yen and Kaede's life plan
