Kaguya-sama: Love is War is one of the most popular romance anime of all time, thanks to the charming, awkward, and hilarious light-hearted shenanigans Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya use to coerce confessions out of each other. However, the series has reached a turning point with Shirogane’s grand gesture at the cultural festival and a film that explores their feelings over winter break.

A fourth season of the show would hopefully acknowledge the stakes of their budding romance, since Shirogane and Shinomiya’s time at Shuchiin Academy will soon end. The series should also explore a few other aspects of the story that would be rewarding to see.

8 More Club Activities

The Mass Media and Astronomy clubs made their first appearances toward the end of season three, introducing new characters while fleshing out the school’s environment. Seeing them make a comeback could create some interesting situations because of their involvement in Shirogane’s confession at the culture festival.

Since the beginning of the series, there have been rumors about Shirogane’s relationship with Shinomiya. However, by reintroducing the Mass Media Club while Shirogane and Shinomiya are still deciding how to act around each other in public, some laughable yet concerning publications could be spread throughout the school. Either way, seeing the activities of the Mass Media Club, Astronomy Club, or other returning clubs would keep the story focused on the high school rather than external forces impacting their relationship.

7 Rei Onodera’s Friendship With Iino And Ishigami

When Yuu Ishigami first joined the cheer squad in the anime, most of its members didn’t have facial features drawn in. Aside from Ishigami, Rei Onodera was the only other fully rendered character because they have classes together. While their familiarity with each other came across, it didn’t receive much attention.

Despite this, the blond-haired girl made another appearance in the culture festival arc, helping Miko Iino with the arrangements for the bonfire. Since she seems close to the other first-year students, exploring her relationship with Ishigami and could be a pleasant segment.

6 A More Authentic Hayasaka

Ai Hayasaka is more than just Kaguya Shinomiya’s loyal maid. She is also a mystery and friend to many characters. Even Kaguya doesn’t seem to understand Hayasaka, despite that she is one of her closest confidants.

After Shirogane realized how much she suppresses her emotions and identity to make herself look better around others, he learned how to rap to express his hopes for her to open up. Seeing Hayasaka express herself more openly in season four would show the impact of his words and how she is learning to trust after many years of putting herself second to serve the Shinomiya family.

5 A Companion For Miko Iino

Toward the end of season three, Miko Iino’s best friend, Kobachi Osaragi, tells her boyfriend that she wants Iino to find more friends and spread her wings. Joining the student council gave Iino more of a community, but compared to the close bonds between Ishigami, Fujiwara, Shirogane, and Shinomiya, Iino still struggles to match the council’s energy.

While Iino may not find her match within the council, she deserves a chance to shine alongside a character who can meet her halfway. As a hopeless romantic and naive person, a new platonic or romantic relationship for Miko Iino could give her the support she needs and deserves.

4 Tsubame’s Final Answer For Ishigami

Tsubame smiling and waving

Unaware of the heart’s symbolism during the cultural festival, Ishigami admitted his love for Tsubame and arranged for her to give him her final answer about dating him under the cherry trees at school.

While a confession or rejection under cherry trees feels like a classic shojo anime trope, Tsubame’s decision day has high stakes for her people-pleasing tendencies and Ishigami’s confidence, especially since Ishigami has been trying to improve himself for her. Between the age gap and Tsubame’s popularity, she has much to consider before she gives her final answer, but fans can hope the cherry tree scene will come in season four.

3 Kaguya’s College Admissions Decision

In the heat of the moment during Shirogane’s confession, Kaguya agreed to apply to Stanford and go to America with him. With excellent test scores, the principal’s recommendation letter, and her commitment to leaving the Shinomiya family, there’s a chance she might make her promise come true.

However, at the end of season three, nothing was promised. Several barriers could keep Kaguya away from Shirogane’s side, and one of the most heartbreaking would be a rejection from Stanford. The outcome of her application is essential to understanding what comes next in her relationship with Shirogane, so hopefully, the decision won’t take long.

2 Family Time With The Shiroganes and Shinomiyas

Alongside the possibility of a college rejection, there is also the chance that Kaguya’s family will intervene. So far, the Shinomiyas haven’t been a big part of the story outside the family’s high status and reputation. Despite this, they did attempt to take her from her friends on the night of the fireworks festival, making it clear that they take her activities seriously and will punish her for acting out of line. Directly meeting more of her family may naturally occur alongside her relationship with Shirogane.

On a lighter note, Miyuki’s family would happily embrace Kaguya with open arms. Miyuki’s father and sister have watched him work toward a confession for months and appreciate Kaguya’s determination. If the intense and intimidating Shinomiyas have a role in the later seasons, at least the supportive Shiroganes have an equal chance to appear.

1 Dates

Things will undoubtedly become more complex in the coming seasons of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, but ultimately the show is a rom-com that subverts the perfect shojo romance. When Kaguya and Miyuki are together, they are often too overwhelmed by their emotions to speak.

Going on dates together and hoping the other person will make the next move would maintain the show’s tone and conflict. Plus, with the possibility of other characters finding fulfilling young love, Miyuki and Kaguya’s friend group could overcome the awkward parts of love together.
