Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is one of the funniest rom-com anime of the last decade, a fact proven by its immense popularity. The core of its humor is the various "battles" between the quirky and eccentric characters who often escalate minor situations into climactic standoffs.

As expected, the strength of Kaguya-sama's humor is based on the strength of the characters that are involved in each situation. The more absurd and eccentric the characters are, the more ridiculous and bizarre the situation becomes. Here are the funniest characters in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, ranked by how much hilarity they bring to the table.

10 Kei Shirogane

Shirogane's younger sister doesn't appear all that often, but she tends to make an impression whenever she does. Though she openly pretends to find her brother annoying, she is genuinely a fan of Kaguya and wishes to become friends with her.

Much of Kei Shirogane's appearances in the anime involve her awkward relationship with her brother and father. While the two are hilarious on their own, Kei provides a straight man that puts into relief their ridiculous antics. While she may not be the funniest character, she is often part of a lot of fun gags.

9 Nagisa Kashiwagi

While many of the stories in Kaguya-sama revolve around the members of Shuchiin's Student Council, some students outside of the Student Council are occasionally featured. Nagisa Kashiwagi was one of the first characters to appear who was not a part of the Student Council, and she showed up frequently to ask about relationship advice.

Many of Nagisa's encounters with the Student Council involve her and her developing relationship with her boyfriend. While her intentions seem pure, she often annoys the members of the Student Council who often have better things to do than listen to her stories.

8 Ai Hayasaka

Ai Hayasaka is the personal maid of Kaguya Shinomiya, although almost nobody knows of it at school. A master of switching personas, Hayasaka can switch between a cold, stoic demeanor and a bouncy, vibrant personality at the drop of a pin.

While Hayasaka is experienced in a variety of occupations and subjects, sometimes she gets dropped into a situation that she can't deal with (often because of Kaguya's whims). Hayasaka doesn't always get flustered, but when she does, it's always because of a completely ridiculous situation.

7 Miko Iino

Miko Iino is the newest member of the Student Council, having joined after an election to determine the next President. She's an overbearing stickler for rules and morals, but her earnestness can be endearing. She's mellowed a bit since joining the Student Council, but some things will never change.

Iino is often the source of a lot of hilarious gags, mostly involving bizarre misunderstandings with the rest of the Student Council. She shines the most when she's with Ishigami, as their cat-and-dog relationship is often the source of a lot of fun jokes.

6 Kaguya Shinomiya

Kaguya Shinomiya is one of the main characters in this series, and therefore, she appears in a majority of the various stories that make up the anime. Kaguya normally presents herself as a very quiet and reserved character and the very image of a noble lady.

On the inside, Kaguya is intensely conniving, often engineering bizarre situations to get Shirogane to confess to her. However, as her feelings grow throughout the series, Kaguya's icy demeanor begins to melt, causing her to emote more openly and evocatively.

5 Miyuki Shirogane

Miyuki Shirogane is the president of Shuchiin's Student Council and a generally serious and hard-working individual. Initially, he doesn't seem like the type to get himself involved in the kinds of silly shenanigans that come up throughout the series.

However, Shirogane's very nature is what actually causes him to end up in many of these ridiculous situations, such as his various "training sessions" with Fujiwara. His fear of being looked down on by Kaguya and poor understanding of current trends are great gags that make him a great comedic character.

4 Maki Shijo

Maki Shijo is the best friend of Nagisa Kashiwagi, who harbors an unrequited love for her boyfriend. This causes the relationship between the three of them to become very awkward, and unfortunately, Shijo often ends up getting the short end of the stick.

While Shijo doesn't appear very often in the series, whenever she does, hilarity is usually not far behind. While there's a bit of sadness to her character, her attempts to deal with her unrequited love and loneliness are a laugh to watch.

3 Yu Ishigami

Yu Ishigami is the introverted and sardonic treasurer of the Student Council. An otaku who loves playing video games and watching anime, Ishigami doesn't tend to fit in very well with his classmates at school.

While Ishigami is the heart of a lot of dramatic moments in Kaguya-sama, he's also the center of a lot of comedic moments. His combative relationships with Fujiwara and Iino lead to some hilarious scenes, and his own negative personality brings a lot of humor even when they aren't around.

2 Chika Fujiwara

The bubbly, game-loving secretary of the Student Council is one of the biggest sources of humor in the series. Whether it's bringing up some bizarre game to liven up the student council or getting in the way of Shirogane or Kaguya's complex plans to get the other to confess, Fujiwara has established herself as a massive wildcard among the Student Council.

While Fujiwara initially seems like an insurmountable wall to Kaguya, she is not immune to being caught off guard, such as her many altercations with Ishigami or her grueling "training sessions" with Shirogane. Regardless of the situation, Fujiwara is always a solid source of hilarity

1 Shirogane's Father

The yet-unnamed patriarch of the Shirogane family makes very few appearances, but every one is laugh-out-loud hilarious. A man who lost his company and now works various jobs in order to pay off his debt, Shirogane's father nevertheless tries to be a reliable presence in his children's lives.

While his intentions are good, the way Shirogane's father goes about doing so is questionable at best. Whether it's his misguided attempts to connect with their youth or his tendency to come off creepy even in the most innocuous of moments, Shirogane's father is a sight to behold.
