Justice League: Warworld has revealed its voice cast, which includes notable names that will excite fans of the DC universe's animated offerings. The film is under the auspices of Warner Bros. Animation, DC, and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

Existing in some incarnation or the other over several decades, the Justice League is the premiere superhero team of the DC Universe (and arguably the entire comic industry), with modern incarnations making appearances as early as the 1960s and featuring the biggest heroes in the business often led by DC's Trinity: Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. The team’s many incarnations have been successfully adapted endlessly across every conceivable medium, including acclaimed animated shows like Young Justice and Justice League Unlimited, which inspired James Gunn's new DC Universe.

With the success of DC's animated offerings in the fanbase, another project was more than likely. The company delivered in the form of the upcoming project Justice League: Warworld, which is expected to release within the year. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has announced the voice cast for the project. The film has Jensen Ackles, who was previously cast in the lead voice role for Batman: The Long Halloween, Stana Katic, and Darren Criss leading the project’s cast as the voices of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, respectively.

“Until now, the Justice League has been a loose association of superpowered individuals," reads the official Justice League: Warworld synopsis, which is executive produced by Butch Lukic, another contributor to 2021’s two-part animated feature The Long Halloween. "But when they are swept away to Warworld, a place of unending brutal gladiatorial combat, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the others must somehow unite to form an unbeatable resistance able to lead an entire planet to freedom.” Also included in the voice cast are Ike Amadi, Troy Baker, Matt Bomer, Roger C. Cross, Brett Dalton, Trevor Devall, John DiMaggio, Robin Atkin Downes, Frank Grillo, Rachel Kimsey, David Lodge, Damian O’Hare, and Teddy Sears in various exciting roles.

The ensemble of talent lined up for Justice League: Warworld is sure to be a hit with fans, especially the inclusion of Ackles, who is so popular in the fandom that many have seriously considered him for the live-action role of the DCU's Batman. The idea of Ackles and the others sticking around is encouraging. However, it is unlikely that the voice talent for the upcoming movie is locked into Gunn's plan to have characters voiced by the same actors across mediums, so fans will have to enjoy the performances put forward as is for now.

While Justice League: Warworld is unaffiliated with Gunn's plans for the DCU, it does still seem to be a project best kept close to home, as it wasn't relegated to Prime Video, which will deliver even more animated Batman projects than fans thought in addition to Batman: Caped Crusader. Whether the project will play some part in preparing fans for some of the new projects coming to the DCU or will be a well-received animated feature remains to be seen.

Justice League: Warworld is scheduled to be released in late 2023.
