The Justice League: Warworld release date for the Max streaming service was officially announced.

The Justice League has been the premiere super-team within the DC Universe for decades, generally consisting of the trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman alongside a few of the most notable heroes of the period. The team’s many incarnations have seen multiple adaptations, from tie-ins and video games to live-action and animated fare, that have since become classics, leading to many DC movies being added on rival platforms for streaming. Most recently, the Justice League was the focus of the DC film Justice League: Warworld.

While the film met with average to positive ratings from critics on its home media and digital release, with praise mainly falling on Justice League: Warworld's returning fan-favorite voice-casting, it still made for fantastic watching for fans. Now, DC enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the film, as JustWatch confirms that it will be added to the Max streaming library on October 23, 2023. This will mark a 90-day wait for the film, which was released straight to digital, to debut for streaming. This release is likely a preparatory move, as the Justice League: Warworld sequel will be released next year.

Justice League Warworld Voice Cast

Justice League: Warworld is the seventh film in the animated Tommorowverse franchise from DC, and it made a strong case for the franchise to keep going despite James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans for future animated content being more integrated into the mainline DCU, starting with Creature Commandoes. While the hope is that Gunn recreates his Guardians' success with Creature Commandos, that expectation doesn’t convey the storytelling that DC's established animated films have been telling fans for years. The two aren’t in opposition and should be left to appeal to everyone in their unique ways.

Even as anticipation builds for new DCU projects, some projects were brushed to the side that could have easily fit within the tomorrowverse, such as the Kingdom Come adaptation that Gunn shut down inadvertently. The disconnect between some of the most popular DC content and Gunn's vision strengthens the case for a separate animated universe in the style of Joker and The Batman's Elseworld status.
