Zack Snyder confirmed that he’s finishing a “gray edition” of his highly-anticipated version of Justice League. This comes after a black-and-white trailer of Zack Synder’s Justice League was released this past weekend.

The Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director stated on Vero that the new edition is entitled, Justice League: Justice Is Gray, and will be entirely black and white. Snyder teased the upcoming film by posting a black and white clip of Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) battling the Amazonians. Last year, he said that a black & white IMAX version of the movie is his “ideal version of the movie” because it produces the “most fan-centric, most pure, most Justice League experience."

While a release date for the Justice League: Justice is Gray has not been revealed, Zack Synder’s Justice League will drop exclusively on HBO Max this March. The Synder cut is 4 hours long and will feature over 150 minutes of unseen footage. The missing footage includes extended character interactions, cut subplots, and a dream sequence in which Joker (Jared Leto) talks directly to Batman. The film has also received buzz for teasing a scene where Henry Cavill's Superman wears a black version of the Superman suit.

Zack Synder’s Justice League will follow Batman (Ben Affleck) and a team of meta-humans as they attempt to protect the plant from an encroaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The original version of the film was released in 2017, earning mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Joss Whedon (The Avengers) notably took over the directing duties after Snyder walked away from the project to be with his family.

Synder has a jam-packed year in front of him. This May, his zombie heist thriller, Army of Dead, is dropping on Netflix. The upcoming film stars Guardians of The Galaxy’s Dave Bautista and follows a group of mercenaries who conduct a heist in a Las Vegas casino during the height of a zombie outbreak. Synder recently called Army of Dead the most satisfying movie he’s made to date. Last year, Netflix announced they were producing both a prequel film and anime series of the film.

Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere on March 18th, 2021.
