Even More Classic Jurassic Park Games Are Making a Comeback

Two classic Sega Genesis games, Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition, have been added to the Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection, enhancing the already impressive lineup.
These Genesis games offer a different gameplay experience compared to the SNES versions, with 2D side-scrolling action instead of top-down exploration.
The entire collection will feature improved graphics, save states, new in-game maps, and quality-of-life tweaks, making the iconic Jurassic Park games more accessible and enjoyable for modern players.

Two more games were announced for the upcoming Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection, bringing the classics from the Sega Genesis to the package. The Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection already had some of the best Jurassic Park games in it, and it’s only getting better with these additions.

Back in July, Limited Run Games announced the release of a collection of classic Jurassic Park games as part of the commemorations for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. At the time, it was revealed that Jurassic Park (NES, Game Boy, and SNES) and Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues (Game Boy and SNES) would be brought to the collection in remastered forms using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine.

Now, it was revealed that two Genesis titles will also be a part of the collection: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition. While it may not be obvious due to their names, the Genesis edition of the original Jurassic Park game is completely different from the one that was released for the SNES. Instead of having a top-down view and focusing on exploration, the Genesis version is a 2D side scroller with several action segments. The Rampage Edition is a revamped version of the first game developed with a different engine by Sega a year later. The ports of these new classics are a nice addition to the collection, as they were excellent Sega Genesis games that needed a modern remake.

All of these Jurassic Park games will have several perks, such as improved graphics with higher resolutions, as well as the inclusion of save states, new in-game maps, and quality-of-life tweaks that will make the titles easier to play in 2023. Gamers who are interested in acquiring these games can already pre-order the physical editions, which will be on sale until October 15, costing between $29.99 (Standard Edition) to $174.99 (Prehistoric Edition). The collection will also be available digitally starting on October 22.

This collection is not the only interesting news for Jurassic Park fans this year, though. Back in January, Steven Spielberg announced he was making a documentary about John Williams. Williams is the legendary composer who devised some of the most memorable tunes of Jurassic Park, as well as other franchises such as Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Because of this, the upcoming movie may be interesting for fans of the franchise who want to learn more about the man responsible for creating the soundtrack for some of the most memorable moments of the franchise.
