  • (Note: There are only two summarized takeaways provided due to the character limit.)

At the time of her debut in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuki Tsukumo was portrayed as somewhat of a wildcard, with her allegiances, beliefs, and abilities unclear in every respect. In the beginning, the only information given about her stature in the world of Jujutsu Sorcerers, was the fact that she was a Special Grade on par with, or perhaps even more powerful than Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, back when the latter pair were students at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Yuki's strength and knowledge of Cursed Energy could be seen in how she trained Aoi Todo, one of the strongest in his class from Kyoto Jujutsu High. She was also one of the few characters in Jujutsu Kaisen who could use the Reversed Cursed Technique, which augmented her extremely powerful Innate Technique, known as Star Rage. In essence, this ability allowed her to imbue her own body with mass, which she harnessed to devastating effect.

What Is Star Rage?

Yuki Tsukumo Jujutsu Kaisen

At its core, the basic idea behind Star Rage was quite simple, although its finer details were unclear to Jujutsu Headquarters, due to Yuki's secretive nature regarding her Innate Technique. Essentially, Star Rage granted Yuki the power to add virtual or imaginary mass to her body, or her shikigami Garuda, which bolstered the force behind both of their attacks in accordance with the real mass assigned to them. In Garuda's case, the technique transformed the shikigami into a Cursed Tool that Yuki could freely wield.

The mass added to Yuki and Garuda's bodies did not weigh them down up to a certain threshold, which meant that they could move and attack freely, without having to deal with the drawbacks of a much heavier physical form. In addition, the mass added to Yuki's body did not increase its tensile strength until a specific point. This level could only be reached if Yuki chose to add incredibly high amounts of mass to her body, to the point where she exerted gravitational force at the level of a celestial body.

The Strength Of A Special Grade

Yuki Tsukumo Star Rage Garuda Kenjaku Jujutsu Kaisen

Between her immense taijutsu skills, raw physical strength, and the devastating force behind her strikes using Star Rage, Yuki was a Sorcerer whose capacity for destruction was practically impossible to determine. When fighting against Kenjaku, she was able to consistently overpower him in close quarters combat, and easily broke through his guard with just a single strike. This was quite impressive considering that Kenjaku was himself an accomplished taijutsu user, with centuries of battle experience behind him.

With Star Rage, Yuki could exorcise Special Grade Cursed Spirits with little to no effort, attesting to her status as one of the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerers in the present day. She was also quite strategic in her use of this ability, and her keen eye for battle allowed her to execute powerful strikes to hit opponents where it hurt them the most. This could be discerned from how she was able to defeat the Special Grade Asian Divine Curse, Ganesha, with the aid of her shikigami, Garuda.

From this, it could be gathered that she was also skilled at Garuda in multiple ways, exploiting the fact that her shikigami could also be assigned virtual mass with her technique. To begin with, Yuki sometimes used Garuda as a projectile, where she rolled up her serpent-like companion into a ball and hurled it at her opponents while increasing its mass. Alternatively, Yuki has also used Garuda like a whip, where the shikigami's spiny body was able to cut through incoming projectiles. The pair could also coordinate attacks, due to Garuda's capacity to act independently, in order to stall opponents, defend Yuki, or create openings for her to attack. Yuki was also able to perform Domain Expansion and expand and imbue her Innate Domain with her Cursed Technique, although this was not shown.

Power With No Limit

Yuki Tsukumo Star Rage Black Hole Jujutsu Kaisen

Near the end of her fight with Kenjaku, Yuki realized that she had no avenue to attain victory after sustaining a fatal wound. Subsequently, she struggled to put together a last ditch attempt to take down the ancient Curse User by pushing her technique to its absolute limit. By continuously adding gargantuan amounts of mass to her body, Yuki was able to generate a sense of gravitational force, which culminated in her body becoming the focal point of a gravitational singularity, turning it into a black hole.

Although this was a desperate course of action to take, it demonstrated the near boundless potential of Star Rage in the hands of a seasoned user, when pushed to its absolute limit. However, there was also a critical drawback to using Star Rage, which could be observed in Yuki's battle against Kenjaku. If the user has sustained serious injuries, they will not be able to build up momentum for physical attacks as effectively, which limits their application of the technique to a great extent. Finally, if a user's Cursed Energy is depleted either by using Domain Expansion or Reverse Cursed Technique, it will decrease the potency of Star Rage.
