Jujutsu Kaisen is edging closer to its end with each passing chapter now and, given what has happened in the story over the course of the last few weeks, it is very likely that the manga is now in its final phase. Sukuna has returned to his true form after defeating Gojo, followed by the defeat of Kashimo and, currently, he is clearly the strongest in the entire world.

Sukuna is now unstoppable with his true form in JJK.

Much to the surprise of the fans, Yuji stepped into battle in the previous chapter alongside Higuruma and, together, these two are going to fight it out against this powerful foe. Of course, Sukuna is clearly underestimating them at the moment, however, that won't be the case for long because, as a protagonist of the story, it is time for Yuji to shine.

Yuji's Current Power Level

When fans take a look at the current power level of Yuji, it isn't all that high. When compared to the strongest in the world, such as Sukuna, Gojo, or even those under them, such as Yuta, Hakari or Kashimo, Yuji is not there just yet. He has been, in some ways, under-developed by the author and that is one of the biggest reasons why a lot of the fans believe that there is no possible way for him to defeat Sukuna without the story suddenly making no sense.

Yuji is stronger than before and there is certainly no denying that, however, he cannot compete at the highest level right now. That said, there is potential for him to grow even further. Yuji is still an unfinished product and there is quite a lot of potential in him. This has been confirmed in the series by Gojo himself, who once said that Yuji has the potential to be as strong as him one day. This certainly means that there is quite a lot of room for him to grow and even though it is going to be a bit over the top for him to reach the same level as Sukuna over the course of one fight, at this point in the story, there have been quite a lot of questionable writing decisions and this would just be added to that.

Fans should absolutely expect Yuji to grow tremendously in terms of strength and, eventually, even fight against Sukuna on an even footing, potentially. It is going to be incredibly exciting for the fans to see this battle, regardless of what approach the author takes to get to the point where these two can enjoy a high-level battle on an even footing.

Yuji's Cursed Technique

It is quite clear to the fans that in order for Yuji to fight against Sukuna, he would require a big power-up. Sukuna is the strongest in the world right now and, what's worse, in his true form, he is almost unstoppable as almost all of his attacks are charged at 100%, because of the fact that he can chant incantations while fighting, due to the extra mouth and pair of arms that he has. This is a massive advantage to him and fans saw how it can be used to devastating effect in the previous chapter when he fought against Kashimo and completely decimated him using a net of Dismantle.

If Sukuna possesses that high of a level, there is no denying that Yuji would absolutely need help in battle against him. As he is, he is absolutely going to be crushed and he certainly needs a major power-up. This power-up can come in the form of a Cursed Technique. Previously in the story, it has been made clear that usually will, at some point, awaken a Cursed Technique. This cursed technique can be the one that Sukuna himself uses, which makes use of Cleave and Dismantle.

Itadori Yuji's new power could tip the scales in the conflict against Sukuna.

This is down to the fact that Sukuna used him as his vessel and, with time, his ability started seeping into Yuji. At the very least, that is how Gojo mentioned it in the early parts of the story. If Yuji does manifest these powers, he will gain a tremendous new cursed technique that he will have seen being used in combat before. Furthermore, given how quick a learner he is, it should not take him long to gain a decent grasp of this skill.

Yuji's Resistance To Sukuna

Of course, learning a cursed technique is good enough, however, it should not be enough for him to defeat Sukuna. That is precisely where another power comes in or, rather, a resistance to power. Provided that Yuji awakens the same cursed technique as Sukuna, it is possible that he will develop some sort of resistance to the powers that Sukuna utilizes. Essentially, this would mean that Yuji would not be on the same level as Sukuna, however, he would be the only person capable of fighting against him and surviving his techniques after the death of Gojo. This would mean attacks such as Cleave and Dismantle, which would then also be a part of Yuji's very own cursed technique, would not work as well on him and this would offer him great resistance in combat.

Fans have already seen Yuji being hit by countless slashes in the past and, much to their surprise, he did manage to survive them. Similar to how Kashimo was able to resist Sukuna's lightning-based attack because he possesses the same cursed energy, Yuji can potentially resist attacks centered around Cleave and Dismantle, because, in his case, he would then be using the very same cursed technique as well. This would make him the only contender to potentially defeat Sukuna and that is one way the story could go about it.

How Yuji Vs Sukuna Could End

At the end of the day, Sukuna absolutely has to fall if the story is to make sense. Having the villains win is absolutely pointless and defeats the purpose of the entire story. While the idea of the bad guys winning might be entertaining to some readers, it defeats the entire purpose of the story and, at the same time, destroys any message that the story has to tell. Furthermore, this is a story that is aimed primarily at kids. Teenagers as young as 12 or 13 years old are supposed to read the story, and for them to see such a gloomy ending would be incredibly ridiculous. As such, the good guys have to win and the likes of Kenjaku and Sukuna absolutely have to fall. There is no better candidate for defeating Sukuna than Yuji and he has to do it in one way or another. The good thing is that Yuji is not alone.

Either Yuji gets on the same level as Sukuna and gains resistance to his cursed technique, or, fans can see the students of Gojo put together their effort and defeat him. Gojo raised his students very well over the years and it would be fitting for them to combine their strengths to defeat Sukuna. However, at the end of the day, Sukuna should be Yuji's to kill. Whatever ends up happening, fans can rest assured that they will most likely see a one-on-one between Yuji and Sukuna and, when that happens, the King of Curses might very well meet his end at the hands of Itadori.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 238, is set to be October 8, 2023.
