With A Mask But Not A Burglar

Takuma Ino Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 35

Despite being introduced in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series since season one, Ino has never had much spotlight until the Shibuya arc of the series. Ino is a grade two sorcerer who strives to become a bonafide grade one. He is someone who highly reveres Kento Nanami and strives to be like him in various aspects. Ino has even stated that when in a pinch, he tends to ask himself what Nanami would do and proceed accordingly.

As Jujutsu sorcery tends to mess with the minds of most people, many sorcerers don’t have the most positive outlook on life. However, Ino stands out from the crowd despite the many tragedies that being a sorcerer comes with. Ino also believes it is important to do things the right way. This has to do with his honor code and how he lives his life as a whole. As shown in the series, Ino is extremely respectful of Kento Nanami, and when put in the position to lead sorcerers younger than him, he embraces his leadership role wholeheartedly.

Character Synopsis

Ino and Nanami

Ino made his debut in episode 12 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series and chapter 26 of the manga series, where he assisted Kento Nanami in dealing with a variety of Mahito-created transfigured humans. However, he was only briefly shown, and fans didn’t get to explore his character in full.

However, in the currently airing Shibuya Arc of the series, Takuma Ino is seen in Shibuya alongside Kento Nanami. However, after Itadori loudly announces that Gojo has been sealed, Ino, Fushiguro, and Nanami make their way to Itadori. Afterward, Nanami leaves Itadori and Fushiguro in the hands of Ino as he goes to investigate the situation.

Now leading Fushiguro and Itadori, Ino takes up the leadership role as he quickly explains to the boys why Gojo being sealed could lead to a huge upheaval in Jujutsu society. With that in mind, Ino and his team move out.

Ino’s Abilities

Takuma Ino

As a jujutsu sorcerer, Ino has many abilities at his disposal. He is a grade two sorcerer; however, Kento Nanami strongly believes that he could easily become a semi-grade one sorcerer if he wanted. However, Ino chooses to get Nanami’s approval before that. Ino’s skills as a jujutsu sorcerer were showcased during the Shibuya arc. He was first assigned to Nanami’s team; however, with Gojo being sealed, Nanami left Ino to take care of Itadori and Megumi. As the trio went to deduce a way to undo the veil, keeping sorcerers out, they quickly proceeded. Shortly after, Ino and his team engaged in combat against a family of Curse users. Against his opponent, Ino showcased high cursed energy to boost his chances in battle; his expert hand-to-hand combat techniques go a long way. Additionally, his innate technique, Auspicious Beasts Summon, plays a significant role in how he fights. By reinforcing his blows with cursed energy, Ino was able to take on Granny Ogami’s grandson and overwhelm him.

Ino’s Auspicious Beasts technique allows him to turn himself into a spiritual medium to use the abilities of four auspicious beasts. These beasts include Kaichi, Reiki, Kirin, and Ryu. So far, the only known condition for Ino to activate his technique is that he needs a mask to cover his face. Using any of the Auspicious Beasts’ powers, Ino can display a variety of techniques that can be used in different situations. This makes his technique one of the most versatile out there. Two of his auspicious beast’s abilities were shown in Shibuya: Kaichi and Reiki. With Kaichi, Ino is able to summon a horn that was used as a projectile, and with Reiki, he is able to cover his body with cursed water to move more fluidly with less friction.

Role In The Series

Takuma Ino

As a character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, Ino takes on a supporting role. So far, his main involvement in the anime series has been in the Shibuya arc. There, he was temporarily in charge of leading Itadori and Megumi to find a way to dissolve the veil, preventing sorcerers from accessing Shibuya. Unfortunately, Ino was quickly dispatched by Granny Ogami and her grandson. This does not mean Ino is weak, as he clearly outclassed Granny Ogami’s grandson; however, he figured out Granny Ogami’s technique too late, and she used her grandson as a spiritual medium to channel Toji Fushiguro’s body and physical abilities to her grandson. Outmatched by Granny Ogami’s grandson in Toji Fushiguro’s form, Ino was quickly beaten.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
