The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen starred the introduction of several odd-looking characters, and its most memorable one yet, the special-grade cursed spirit, Mahito. The gleefully evil antagonist is the creation of humanity's worst emotions and a direct representation of the endless possibility of evil residing in humans.

Throughout the series, He starts as a propelling force for the growth of the story's protagonist. He has gone on to showcase unforeseen levels of potential, quickly making him one of the most problematic villains of the series. The playfully sinister figure, Mahito, is a formidable foe for the Jujutsu society. However, as is the law of the nature of all things, there cannot be strength without weakness, and Mahito is no exception. For all his might and ability, he is not without flaws. Although not nearly as fatal as fans hope, Mahito certainly has weaknesses, and here, below, are some of these weaknesses.

5 Long Range Specialists

This flaw is more complicated than it sounds because, as a Cursed Spirit, Mahito is more than capable of defending himself against any type of opponent, as was shown against Nanami. He was even capable of overwhelming the Grade-1 sorcerer. Still, due to the nature of his cursed techniques and abilities, Mahito has to fight all his opponents within a certain distance, and the story has yet to disprove this pattern.

Despite the lethality of his technique, he can only activate it by touching his opponents, basically touching their souls, which is the significant step of his famous technique, Idle Transfiguration. Although he has yet to face off against any long-range sorcerer, his techniques' effectiveness hinges on his opponents being close to him, especially his Domain expansion. Due to this limitation of his abilities, it is inferred that Mahito will be at a significant disadvantage if he were to go up against a strategic Jujutsu sorcerer who can fight against him from a considerable distance. An example of such would be the Kamo clan's Noritoshi Kamo.

4 Hand-to-Hand Combat

Capable as Mahito is as a Cursed Spirit, his hand-to-hand combat prowess is lacking compared to other sorcerers of the series. This flaw is evident for two reasons: his inexperience against Jujutsu Sorcerers being the first. Unlike his other Cursed Spirit allies, Mahito is a new-born Cursed Spirit who only recently took on physical manifestation. An example of this was his battle against Yuji Itadori and Nanami, with the Cursed Spirit suffering a memorable beat down at the hands of the duo, although it led him to enlightenment.

The other reason for this weakness is a lack of actual training. Unlike Jujutsu Sorcerers, Cursed Spirits rely more on cursed techniques than natural combat prowess, with the reason being not needing to be skilled in physical combat. Mahito, however, shows signs of quick learning, which suggests that this is a flaw he can improve on as the series progresses.

3 Technique Vulnerability

Vulnerability to Cursed Techniques is a general and fundamental flaw of all Jujutsu Sorcerers. Evident against even the strongest Sorcerers like Gojo Satoru, a Jujutsu sorcerer's defense is not always impenetrable. Still, the concept of defense against attack is where Mahito is considerably lacking. Naturally more durable, and due to his innate ability, Mahito visibly disregards his defense and is more focused on attacking his opponents.

By doing so, he leaves himself much more open than the typical cursed spirit or Jujutsu sorcerer. This can be attributed to his confidence in his capabilities or his lack of combat and battle strategy knowledge. Still, through the series, it has yet to be proven fatal. However, this vulnerability comes to light against more superior opponents, as seen against Sukuna.

2 Regeneration Fatigue

As a result of his Idle Transfiguration technique, Mahito can manipulate the souls of others and even himself. The implication is that he can shape his soul structure into whatever he can think of. Being able to do so also means he can regenerate as long as his soul essence remains intact.

His technique, coupled with his disregard for defense in battle, implies that he is constantly restoring parts of himself or changing the shape of his soul, which is not a limitless action. His regeneration is heavily reliant on his stamina. Despite being highly durable to a Cursed Spirit, the same can not be said for his stamina, as regeneration takes a heavy toll on his Cursed Energy. This flaw, however, is also one that may see improvement depending on the story's progression.

1 Lack Of Composure

Largely down to his inexperience in dealing with Jujutsu Sorcerers, Mahito tends to lose focus during battles. Due to the manner and nature of his creation, like humans, Mahito has a philosophical approach to fighting and a tendency to feel his way through it. Typically, this helps grow spontaneously, as was the case against Itadori and Nanami, where he grasped the concept of the Domain Expansion. Still, his approach to battle is not optimal as he tends to be caught up in the heat of battle, losing focus on the objective at hand, and, like a kid excited with learning, leads him to experiment during ongoing fights.

Having not regretted such an approach yet, an inherent loss of focus would be fatal against superior opponents, and an excellent example of such an opponent would be Gojo Satoru, the wielder of the Six Eyes. Like all other highlighted flaws, Mahito's lack of composure will likely improve as he takes on more enemy sorcerers as the story progresses.
