Jujutsu Kaisen continued its incredible battle between Sukuna and the sorcerers this week and fans got to see Kusakabe utilizing his powers to the best of his abilities. This was a battle that fans expected to go a certain way, given that Kusakabe really didn't have the strength that was needed to take down the King of Curses. Still, fans did expect quite a bit from this battle, and hoped for it to be entertaining.

Sukuna might have too much plot armor in JJK.

Yet, once again, it was a very predictable fight as Kusakabe ended up losing within one chapter, in the same style that the vast majority of characters have been over the course of the last few chapters. Naturally, many fans have felt this fighting getting repetitive, since every character comes and falls the same way against Sukuna.

The Beginning of The Sukuna Raid

The raid on Sukuna has been going on for quite a while now. This raid began a few months ago, shortly after the battle between Gojo and Sukuna wrapped up. The Shinjuku Showdown arc opened up with the battle of Gojo and Sukuna, and for sure, was a cracking beginning to this amazing arc. This battle was the best one that the fans have witnessed so far, and it certainly lived up to all expectations. Sukuna, the King of Curses, barely managed to edge out Gojo in battle, and he ended up taking quite a lot of damage in the process. On another day, Sukuna could have lost this battle entirely, however, thankfully, he ended up winning, and that is how the raid on Sukuna finally kicked off.

As soon as Gojo died, Kashimo jumped into battle, and his death caused the sorcerers to storm Sukuna and surround him. This battle began with Higuruma and Yuji joining in, and they were soon joined by the likes of Ino, Choso, and Kusakabe. All of them teamed up to take down Sukuna, however, none of them actually managed to deal any significant damage. It was Higuruma who was focused on at first, however, he fell to Sukuna, and Yuji met the same fate. Choso did not last long in battle either.

It was Yuta who made significant progress in this battle at first, thanks to his domain expansion. Yuta was able to shock Sukuna with his level of skill, however, in the end, he met the same fate and was cut down by the King of Curses. Yuji, who had teamed up with Yuta, met a similar fate, and following Yuta, Maki joined the battle. Maki too lasted for a chapter or two and eventually was cut down by Sukuna in the very same manner as Yuta.

Following Maki, fans got to see Kusakabe join the battle and, as expected, he too lasted for a chapter and, with that, was cut down by the King of Curses. Clearly, fans are now getting tired of the same repetitive patterns that the story has followed over the course of the last few chapters. There is no denying the fact that the battle against the King of Curses has been fun in some aspects, however, there certainly needs to be a variation in how the author goes about it.

Is Sukuna Raid Getting Too Repetitive?

It is clear for the fans to see that the fight between Sukuna and the sorcerers is getting too repetitive. If a good portion of the fans believe that Jujutsu Kaisen is going in circles right now, then it most definitely is. It isn't as if fans aren't aware of Sukuna's threat. They are well aware of the fact that Sukuna is the strongest in the world and it makes sense for him to beat everyone around him, at least the vast majority that he has come up against. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and every reader likely realizes that.

Sukuna's Black Box is an insanley powerful technique in JJK.

However, the problem is that the author's approach to all of these fights is quite similar. Every single sorcerer simply joins the battle, is hyped up to be somewhat special, launches a small attack on Sukuna, and then gets slashed up and defeated. This is the same strategy that the author has followed with every single fighter that has joined the battle, and that is where the problem lies. There is absolutely no creativity in this fight so far, and no emotional connection between the fighters either. It is easily one of the most repetitive sections of the story.

Following the pattern once or twice makes sense, however, doing it over and over again and expecting every fan to like it is certainly a recipe for disaster. Furthermore, it doesn't feel like this pattern is going to stop anytime soon. Miguel, who is the sorcerer that fans know from JJK0, has now joined the battle. Any fan of the series would know very well that Miguel is not going to be the one to defeat Sukuna. As such, he is most definitely going to fall in a chapter or two, and, as a result, it is quite clear to the fans that he too will face a similar and and the repetitive cycle will just keep going on.

How Sukuna's Fall Could Come About

At this point, it is clear for the fans to see that the author needs to change his strategy in the fight against Sukuna. All the sorcerers that the fans have seen so far are not going to be making any significant progress if this pattern keeps up. To get around it, the author has to come up with something better and something more entertaining. At this point, fans are eagerly waiting for Yuji to rejoin the battle and possibly showcase his cursed technique, which could then end up making a difference in defeating Sukuna. Some others are hoping for the return of some old characters to make a difference in this fight, while a small portion of the fanbase is just hoping that Sukuna just wins this battle, and Shinjuku Showdown Arc wraps up.

The safest bet right now would be for Yuji to recover and, hopefully, show some power that allows him to fight Sukuna on an equal footing. This is the only fight that could showcase any kind of an emotional stake in the story right now. Yuji's past might get explained, and he might end up receiving a power boost thanks to everyone around him which could then help him defeat Sukuna. At this point, most fans simply want this fight to end since right now, everything is just going in circles.

To that end, it is safe to say that the author needs to either give readers a proper one-on-one that is worthy of their attention, has emotional weight, and actually progresses the plot, or just see Sukuna win the battle and end the arc for good, instead of having random characters jump in and lose in the same way over and over again.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 255, is set to be March 30, 2024.
