Yuji Itadori finally awakened in chapter 256 of JJK. This is something that the fans expected would happen at some point in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, as this is where Sukuna was most likely to fall. Of course, the one to defeat Sukuna was always going to be none other than Yuji Itadori, and fans always knew that some sort of power-up was due for him as this arc continued and he kept up his fight against Sukuna. That is precisely what ended up happening in the previous chapter, as Yuji, after a hard-fought battle, finally found himself in the zone once again. Thanks to the help from all the sorcerers around him, Yuji was able to land a powerful black flash on the King of Curses. This black flash was quite special and it can be said that it was different from any other black flash that the fans have seen in the story to date.

For one, this black flash was such that even Sukuna could feel it coming, just like Mahito did back in the Shibuya Arc. Sukuna would most certainly have countered it, however, thanks to Larue, his attention was taken away at the last moment and Yuji was able to hit this black flash cleanly. This black flash was greater than any other that has been produced in the series, and that goes to say a lot. At the end of this attack, when the black sparks settled, Yuji Itadori had finally awakened successfully, and that is where the story is at the moment. Yuji's awakening is surely going to be absolutely massive, regardless of what it ends up being.

JJK's Shinjuku Showdown arc has been filled with intense fights.

On top of this, Yuji will also boost his reverse cursed technique greatly. Fans know that Yuji possesses an incredible reverse cursed technique that can even heal from Sukuna's Dismantle attacks. Now, after undergoing an awakening, this aspect of his power is going to be boosted considerably and it can be said that his reverse cursed technique would heal him within a very short span of time, just like Gojo.
