Hiromi Higuruma is one of the most important characters in Jujutsu Kaisen at the moment. Ever since the Culling Game began, Gege Akutami has been introducing fans to quite a lot of interesting characters and one of them is certainly Higuruma. Higuruma was a defense attorney at one point and his character was remarkably different from the Jujutsu Sorcerers that fans are used to seeing in the story.

After having lost all faith in the system, he decides to take things into his own hands, and thanks to his newfound abilities, he has become incredibly important in the Culling Game arc. His talent for Jujutsu Sorcery is incredible and he might even end up becoming one of the best sorcerers of all time, which just goes to show how special he truly is.

Higuruma's Awakening Of A Cursed Technique

Higuruma was a non-sorcerer until recently, and before the events of Shibuya, he was just another defense attorney. Having taken on countless cases and fought for people who he believed were wrongfully accused, Hiromi Higuruma was eventually led to a point where he lost all faith and the judicial system and, thankfully for him, Kenjaku started his grand plan. When he used the power of Idle Transfiguration to forcefully alter the brain chemistry of people and give them cursed techniques, Hiromi Higuruma ended up being one of the people who were blessed with such power.

It must be stated, however, that the vast majority of those who ended up receiving cursed techniques weren't all that special. In fact, out of all the people, Kenjaku only kept a keen eye on Hiromi Higuruma, which just goes to show that he was truly a special one in the whole bunch.

As soon as he awakened his cursed technique, he decided to take things into his own hands and, at the beginning of the Culling Game, he served the role of an antagonist. However, once he met Yuji Itadori, he decided to collaborate with him and, ever since then, he has become an incredibly important character, given that he is doing his best to fight and defeat the actual villains of the story, that is, the duo of Kenjaku and Sukuna.

Right from the very beginning, it is made clear to the fans that Hiromi Higuruma possesses tremendous talent for Jujutsu Sorcery. In fact, even Kenjaku keeps a close eye on him. When Kenjaku fought against Takaba, he clearly emphasized the fact that Hiromi Higuruma was the only character that he had his eyes on. He was the only one he believed to be intriguing enough to track the growth of, however, Talaba ended up being the second character who impressed him. In the end, Takaba led to Kenjaku being decapitated, however, that doesn't change the fact that the only one who had his interest for the longest time was Higuruma and this was for all the right reasons.

The JJK manga is ending soon, according to what the mangaka Gege revealed at Jump Festa 2024.

Hiromi Higuruma did not have access to cursed energy for long. In fact, he only awakened it a short while before the current events of the story and, by this point, he has mastered the basics of this power incredibly well. In fact, he has even managed to unlock advanced techniques, such as Domain Expansion, in an incredibly short amount of time and that just goes to show how dangerous a sorcerer he truly is. He managed to grasp the basics of cursed energy by studying his Domain Expansion and the cursed technique that was innately present with it. In a way, it can be said that he successfully reverse-engineered barrier techniques and, from there onward, learned everything there was to know about curse energy.

What's even more shocking is the fact that it took him only 12 days to reach the level of a Grade 1 sorcerer and that is truly terrifying potential. In the Culling Game itself, Hiromi Higuruma was the first modern sorcerer to reach 100 points and that just goes to show his aptitude for cursed energy and its manipulation. He is a true gem no matter which way fans look at it and, as time passes, he only gets stronger.

Higuruma's Domain Expansion

Hiromi Higuruma was able to manifest a Domain Expansion rather easily. The basis of his Domain Expansion is, of course, his innate technique which sees him make use of a shikigami named Judgeman. Judgeman is a terrifying shikigami that resembles Lady Justice itself and is primarily used inside his Domain Expansion, which is known as Deadly Sentencing. Hiromi has utilized his Domain Expansion on multiple occasions in the story already, with the most recent usage being his fight against Sukuna.

Essentially, when Hiromi Higuruma opens his domain, those who are within are forced to comply with its rules and that means they cannot resort to force of any kind. Simply put, it is a non-lethal domain and it also does not grant Hiromi a sure hit attack. However, what it does give him is incredible power which he makes the best use of, thanks to his talent as an incredible student of law.

Once inside the domain, the target becomes the defendant and Judgeman itself knows everything that there is to know about them. Hiromi himself acts as the prosecutor, and Judgeman gives evidence to him, which is required for deliberation. It is entirely up to the defendant to argue against Hiromi and, if they manage to successfully defend themselves, they are spared. Essentially, their options are either silence, rebuttal, or confession. After that, Higuruma himself can form a rebuttal of his own and this is the only chance they get before Judgeman passes its verdict.

If the defendant cannot defend themselves and lose the trial, it then results in a guilty verdict, and they face a very severe consequence. Being declared guilty can lead to them having their cursed technique confiscated. This then gives Hiromi a great advantage in battle as he possesses enough combat abilities to take advantage of this situation. In case someone is wielding a cursed tool, then their cursed tool is confiscated first. However, in certain cases, Higuruma also gets access to the Executioner’s Sword, which is when a death sentence is passed for them. This Executioner's Sword is incredibly powerful and can kill in a single blow. The only requirement for achieving that is for Hiromi to slice his target just once.

Will Higuruma Become As Strong As Gojo?

Given the fact that Hiromi Higuruma is incredibly talented and one of the strongest modern sorcerers at the time, fans already know that he will one day reach incredible heights. In just 12 days, he reached a level similar to a Grade One Sorcerer. He has advanced even further since. He can utilize Domain Expansions already and, as he gains more battle experience, he becomes even stronger. Just by watching Sukuna fight, he was able to learn Domain Amplification and, it shouldn't be beyond him to learn advanced techniques, such as reverse cursed technique within a few chapters as well.

According to the narrator himself, Hiromi Higuruma has enough potential in him to rival Gojo himself and that is quite massive praise for him. He can one day reach similar levels to Gojo and Sukuna, however, for that, he has to survive this incredible fight against the King of Curses. If Higuruma dies, he certainly cannot fulfill his potential. However, if he survives, then there might be room for the new strongest modern sorcerer in JJK.
