Sukuna is now unstoppable with his true form in JJK.

As expected, Kashimo ended up falling in the battle and, from there onwards, it was Yuji Itadori, along with Hiromi Higuruma, who jumped into battle. This is a battle that fans have been waiting ages for and here, for the very first time, Yuji will use his Cursed Technique.

Itadori Yuji's Power At The Beginning

Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen

At the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, fans could very well see that Yuji was just a regular boy. Even though he was gifted tremendously, physically speaking, he was not always a sorcerer. It was only after he met Megumi that he could see curses and, subsequently, he ended up eating Sukuna's finger, which granted him tremendous power. From there onwards, he enrolled in Tokyo Jujutsu High and trained tremendously hard under Gojo. Itadori became extremely powerful in no time, however, much to the surprise of the fans, he did not have any cursed technique.

The likes of Megumi certainly were born with one. Megumi has access to the 10 Shadows Technique and fans have seen that on countless occasions. Nobara, another friend of Yuji, also had access to a cursed technique in the Straw Doll Technique. The vast majority of characters in JJK have access to cursed techniques and it is believed that these cursed techniques start manifesting at the age of six, at the earliest. Yet, for some reason, Yuji did not have access to one.

Having a cursed technique would be incredibly important, especially given the fact that very few sorcerers have succeeded without being blessed with the cursed technique. While the vast majority awaken cursed techniques at a very young age, fans were sure that, at a later time, Yuji would end up awakening his as well. At the beginning of the story, it did not matter much to the fans since Yuji was the vessel of Sukuna and, whenever he was in major fights, he either pulled through himself, or Sukuna took complete control and caused chaos using his very own cursed technique.

The Effects Of Being Sukuna's Vessel

While being the vessel of Sukuna certainly had many downsides, as fans saw on multiple occasions throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, it also brought forth some advantages for Yuji. Being the vessel of a powerful personality such as Sukuna meant that Yuji gained quite a lot of experience while fighting. It also meant that he could not really die because Sukuna would absolutely not let that happen. However, the biggest advantage of being the vessel of Sukuna is the fact that Itadori would eventually gain access to the cursed technique of Sukuna himself. This was mentioned by people around Yuji on a few occasions. Gojo was the one who clarified it to the fans and made it clear that, with time, Sukuna's very own cursed technique would seep into Itadori and the latter would make it with his own.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Nobara's Return, Explained

Nobara Kugisaki, one of the main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen could make her comeback after fans thought she died during the events of Shibuya.

This only meant that, with time, Yuji would, in some way, inherit the cursed technique of Sukuna. Of course, this wouldn't make it an Inherited Cursed Technique, per se, however, it would work somewhat along the same lines. Fans have already seen glimpses of this happening in the past of the series. Yuji has already cut Sukuna unknowingly once, however, it was no bigger than a small paper cut at the time. Yet, it was proof that the cursed technique was manifesting within him.

Yuji Itadori's Cursed Technique Awakens

Yuji Itadori Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji Itadori was always going to be the one to defeat Sukuna and fans knew that from the very beginning. However, it was a question of how he would accomplish this. Now, the answer is in front of the fans. Yuji will defeat Sukuna using his very own cursed technique. Having already cut Sukuna, Yuji can absolutely do it again. After the fall of Kashimo, Yuji jumped onto the battlefield to fight against Sukuna, and there, only the fans with the most curious of eyes noticed that his hand had started to look like that of Sukuna. Yuji currently has long nails on his hands, which he usually only manifested when Sukuna took over. This means that Sukuna's cursed technique has seeped into his body and, even though he does not know it at the moment, he can certainly utilize it and learn how to properly control this power.

What's even more advantageous for him is the fact that the person whom he can learn from is right in front of him. Yuji is a great talent when it comes to picking up things. Fans already know that he has immense skill when it comes to Jujutsu sorcery. When Todo trained him, he learned how to fight against a special grade curse within a matter of minutes and, as the story progressed, the evolution that this character showed was staggering. Now, he has the best user of the cursed technique that he just awakened right in front of him. Fans should absolutely expect Yuji Itadori to evolve in battle while watching Sukuna and then slowly gain control over the powers of Dismantle as well as Cleave.

How Strong Is Yuji Itadori?

Yuji using Divergent Fist

At the moment, Yuji might not be the strongest of sorcerers in the story. However, this fight is going to be his stage to evolve tremendously in battle. Right now, he might not even be as strong as Kashimo, however, as this battle progresses in the upcoming chapters of the story, fans should absolutely expect him to grow stronger.

Yuji absolutely has to defeat Sukuna. He was destined to be the person to do this, however, to pull this off, he does not have to necessarily be the strongest sorcerer of all time. The fact is that Yuji has not only inherited Sukuna's cursed technique but he also might have some resistance to powers such as Dismantle and Cleave, since they have been a part of his own body for so long.

Since the cursed techniques that these two characters possess are all the same, Yuji should be able to resist the powers of Sukuna better than anyone else. That is precisely what everyone should be betting on right now and, as he defeats Sukuna, he will certainly become one of the strongest of all time, but not necessarily the strongest. Regardless, it is time for Yuji to shine and Sukuna to fall and fans should expect that to happen over the course of the next few months.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 238, is set to be October 8, 2023.
