Was an exceptional student

Like many known sorcerers from the series, Geto’s story begins in Jujutsu High. It allowed him to harness and perfect his skills, such as his cursed technique of absorbing cursed spirits. This led to him becoming one of the most talented and strongest sorcerers of the time.

However, Geto cultivated more than just skills in Jujutsu High. It was also his ideals and goals in life. Geto’s early belief was that sorcerers’ duty was to protect those without cursed energy. Geto needed a cause to believe in, and for a long time, protection of those he would later call ‘monkeys’ was enough to fulfill his desire for idealism.

6 Befriended Satoru Gojo:

Fought side by side with the strongest

Suguru was never a person who yearned to socialize, but there were a few friendships that he cherished dearly, especially his friendship with Satoru Gojo. Most people considered Gojo an idol and failed to see past the facade, while Geto was one of the few ones who saw Gojo as both a person and a friend, first and foremost.

7 Most Arrogant Anime Heroes & Protagonists, Ranked

These anime heroes are the embodiments of arrogance.

They did not always end eye to eye, often arguing about the purpose of a sorcerer and how righteous the nature of their cause was. Gojo took a carefree approach, while Geto devotedly believed in the cause. However, despite their differences, the two became close and would never stop having a soft spot for each other, even after ending up on opposite sides.

5 Fought Toji Fushiguro:

Stood on his own against a strong assassin

Toji

Toji Fushiguro is a unique character in Jujutsu Kaisen, as he became one of the strongest people to ever live without any cursed energy. During the Hidden Inventory arc, Toji was the assassin who hunted Riko Amanai while Gojo and Geto defended her. At one point in the battle, Suguru had to fight Toji alone.

At several points in this battle, Geto could stand up to the assassin and resist him. For example, Suguru predicted that Toji would leave an opening behind him and attempt to consume his cursed spirit. He came close to weakening and overwhelming Toji, but the assassin managed to withstand the assault.

4 Took upon a radical cause:

Set himself on a path of villainy

Suguru Geto

Riko Amanai’s death has become a painful moment in Geto’s life. He failed to protect her, and this feeling of shame was only made worse by seeing non-sorcerers he swore to protect cheering at Riko’s demise. This sent Geto into a downward spiral as he isolated himself from people close to him and reveled in his hatred.

When he talked with Yuki Tsukimo, Geto considered exterminating non-sorcerers. In a world where everyone could control cursed energy, there would be no more cursed spirits and no war to fight. This radical and destructive idea became the cause to which Geto dedicated the rest of his life.

3 Annihilated a village:

Reached a point of no return

One of his most cruel and destructive acts shown in Jujutsu Kaisen is Geto annihilating an entire town. After his spiral of hatred and dedication, Suguru saw two sorcerer girls getting mistreated and abused by ‘monkeys.’ This was another proof that non-sorcerers don’t respect all the hard work sorcerers dedicate to protect them in Geto’s eyes.

Saved individuals from curses

Despite Geto’s malicious intent and goals, he continued doing small acts of good to further his cause. The only purposes Geto saw in ‘Monkeys’ were to collect money or curses for him. The former caused him to forge temporary alliances to ensure a flow of money that he could put into his cause.

Collecting curses made Geto temporarily work as a ‘shaman’, where he would perform rituals unknowingly affected by curses. He lifted them and helped those people feel better, as shown in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. He used those collected curses to empower himself in preparation for coming battles.

1 Built a cult:

Became an influential ideologue

Through his actions and plans, Geto quickly became a polarizing figure in Jujutsu Sorcerers. While his ideas of sorcerer superiority resonated with some in the Jujutsu world, others decried Geto’s ideals and stuck to their principles of continuing to defend non-sorcerers from cursed spirits. Some, like the two girls he saved, were highly devoted to him.

Geto himself continued to respect sorcerers and be polite to them, as despite some of them being his enemies, Geto believed that what he was doing was ultimately for the good of all sorcerers. No matter how they see him, they couldn’t deny the gift of a world that he gave them.
