  • Dagon's Innate Cursed Technique, Disaster Tides, grants him hydrokinesis and the ability to manipulate water and marine life on a terrifying scale.
  • His mastery over Disaster Tides was so impressive that even powerful sorcerers and a superhuman cursed tool user were unable to exorcise him.
  • Dagon's Domain Expansion, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha, allowed him to access a near infinite amount of water and command swarms of shikigami, making him even more formidable in battle.

Even back when he was a Cursed Womb, Dagon displayed a surprising level of mastery over his Innate Cursed Technique, which tied into his origins as a curse borne from humanity's fear of water-based disasters. Upon evolving into a Special Grade Cursed Spirit in the Shibuya Incident Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, he unleashed this ability, known as "Disaster Tides," on Kento Nanami, Maki Zenin, and Naobito Zenin, which left his adversaries utterly helpless and scrambling to survive.

A fitting power for a Cursed Spirit whose octopus-like appearance exemplified his aquatic roots, Disaster Tides allowed Dagon to manipulate both water and marine life, on scales that were truly terrifying. His command over the technique was so impressive, that even a Grade 1 Sorcerer, a Special Grade 1 Sorcerer, and a superhuman Cursed Tool user in Maki, could not exorcise him with their combined strength. With this in mind, let's dive into the finer details of Dagon's Disaster Tides as shown in Jujutsu Kaisen.

What Is Disaster Tides?

Dagon Disaster Tides Hydrokinesis Jujutsu Kaisen

In essence, Disaster Tides grants Dagon a high degree of hydrokinesis, where he can generate, manipulate, and absorb large volumes of water to execute attacks of varying scales. The massive volumes of Cursed Energy he possessed, allowed him to produce huge floods of water from absolutely nothing, which he could shape into walls or monumental torrents to drown his foes or push them backwards by exerting immense amounts of force.

Additionally, Dagon could also draw the water back towards him and consume it, which allowed him to ingest anyone caught up in it. Disaster Tides could be used for both short and long range attacks, which made it an extremely versatile technique. In close quarters scenarios, Dagon could shield himself with the water he generated, or use it to reinforce his hand-to-hand combat maneuvers. Moreover, the technique could also be used for attacks spanning large areas, where Dagon was able to shape the water into huge waves that forced his opponents away with concussive force.

Horizon Of The Captivating Skandha

Like quite a few other Innate Techniques, Dagon's Domain Expansion was an integral part of his arsenal, and in more ways than one, it was the central focus of his fighting style. When backed into a corner, Dagon's usual resort was to activate his Domain, "Horizon of the Captivating Skandha," which manifested as a tropical beach side landscape filled with palm trees and azure waters.

This Domain was also used as a recreational space by Dagon, Mahito, Pseudo-Geto, Jogo, and Hanami, acting as a base of operations for their group. When activated, Dagon had access to a near infinite amount of water to utilize his hydrokinetic powers, bolstering his offensive and defensive abilities to an even greater extent.

Granting pyrokinetic abilities that pair well with his fiery temper, Jogo's innate cursed technique is a major reason behind his Special Grade rank.

Furthermore, it was within this space that Dagon was at his most powerful, as he gained access to another facet of his Innate Technique. Beyond his hydrokinetic powers, Dagon was able to summon and command enormous swarms of shikigami in his Domain, which he often launched towards his opponents. They also remained invisible until just before they made contact with their targets, which increased the difficulty of dealing with them due to the elimination of any time to prepare countermeasures.

The shikigami in question could range in scale from medium-sized fish to gigantic sea beasts as large as a low-rise building. From piranhas and small sharks to large crustaceans and eel-serpents, the shikigami encompassed a wide range of species. More often than not, he would subdue enemies with sheer numbers, forcing his shikigami to assault them relentlessly. At other times, he used the stream of shikigami as a diversion to get in close and strike targets at their most vulnerable points.

The Overwhelming Force Of Death Swarm

Dagon Death Swarm Jujutsu Kaisen

Like most other Domain Expansions, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha also had a sure hit function represented by the shikigami, and their assault couldn't be stopped without the use of Anti-Domain Techniques. The only other way to negate this was by casting one's own Domain inside its bounds, which would produce a tug-of-war between the two opposing barriers where the more refined technique would prevail.

Within his Domain, Dagon could also activate an extension technique known as "Death Swarm," which produced a virtually endless swarm of fish monster shikigami to attack targets from all sides. Although the strength and number of shikigami may be determined by the user's Cursed Energy reserves, Dagon's practically inexhaustible reserves of Cursed Energy were enough to keep the technique running smoothly without letting up for extended periods.

He could even manifest shikigami from his own body without using the sure hit function, allowing him to launch attacks from close range. Despite how young he was compared to other Cursed Spirits in the series, Dagon was an expert at exploiting his Cursed Technique's versatility to overwhelm anyone he faced, and if not for the intervention of a revived Toji Fushiguro, he may have prevailed in the battle against Maki Zenin, Naobito Zenin, Kento Nanami, and Megumi Fushiguro.
