Highlights

  • Jujutsu Kaisen peaked during Gojo and Sukuna's battle, but heroes struggle afterwards due to Sukuna's overwhelming power.
  • Heroes' plan to defeat Sukuna fails as each attempt ends in disaster, leaving hope hanging on possible return of fallen sorcerers.
  • Possibility of dead sorcerers returning fuels fan theories for the wild final showdown against Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Currently, Jujutsu Kaisen has been in its top form for the last few months ever since the release of Gojo from the Prison Realm and the start of his battle against Sukuna. Each chapter has somehow outdone the ones before it, and the series reached its climax at the end of the battle of the strongest where Sukuna narrowly defeated Gojo, prompting the rest of the fighters of Jujutsu High to come together in an all-out assault against the King of Curses.

However, to the disapproval of many fans, it has all just been downhill for Jujutsu High from there. Despite meticulous planning and giving it everything they have, the heroes just always seem to be on the back foot due to Sukuna's strength continuously proving to be far beyond what they had imagined, as he keeps killing sorcerers left and right. However, there exists a possibility that all the foes that Sukuna has taken out might just be coming back.

What Was The Plan To Defeat Sukuna?

The plan to defeat the King of Curses had been set in motion ever since Gojo's release from Prison Realm. When he escaped, the fight between him and Sukuna was set for the 24th of December, as Gojo wanted there to only be one day to mourn Geto's death. In doing this, there was a period of calm in between, where the heroes trained to their limits and set a plan in motion, eventually culminating in their battle in Chapter 221 of Jujutsu Kaisen.

The initial part of this plan completely rested on Gojo's shoulders, as he was the only one powerful enough to potentially defeat Sukuna in a battle. However, their fight ends in disaster, as Sukuna finds a way to bypass Infinity with his Space Dismantle, killing Gojo in the process. Though the shock was incredible for the heroes, Hajime Kashimo jumped into the fray without a moment's hesitation.

However, he too met his end at the hands of Sukuna. This was followed by Yuji and Higuruma joining in and doing a substantial amount of damage to the ancient curse. As Higuruma opened his Domain Expansion, fans would get the first instance of what their plan truly was. It was revealed that Megumi's soul still resided within the body of Sukuna, so the plan was to use various soul-damaging tools and attacks on him to separate the young sorcerer from him and in doing so, weaken Sukuna enough to kill him.

However, Sukuna got the better of them and managed to kill Higuruma before any serious damage could be done to him. With every single plan against him failing one after the other, Yuta finally stepped into the battle and worked with Yuji in an attempt to save Megumi and kill Sukuna. Although this was the closest the heroes had gotten to getting the better of the King of Curses, they failed and Sukuna hit Yuta with a Space Dismantle. Just as this happened, Maki snuck up behind him and delivered a massive blow with her Split Soul Katana.

What Hope Could the Heroes Have?

Despite Maki being considered one of the heavy hitters and a vital part of the plan against Sukuna, it's safe to say that the Fallen One may have already gotten rid of the strongest characters that posed the biggest threat to him. Though Maki is certainly no pushover and can get past Sukuna with her lack of Cursed Energy and superhuman abilities, Uraume's dialogue at the end of Chapter 252 implies that Sukuna isn't at full strength.

I can see that Lord Sukuna still isn't taking this fight seriously.

However, the heroes may still have an ace up their sleeve. As shown in some of the previous chapters, the bodies of Sukuna's fallen foes have all been transported away by Ui Ui or Kirara. The purpose of this remains mysterious, but if most fan theories are to be believed, Sukuna is in for the wildest fight of his life towards the end of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Could The Dead Sorcerers Return?

shoko-ieri-jjk

Though the evidence for the return of the sorcerers is anecdotal at best, theorizing about it means that it's a possibility. Despite all the symbolism about reincarnation and resurrection that has been present throughout the series, many fans believe that Ui Ui and Shoko Ieri hold the key to the victory of the heroes over the King of Curses.

Firstly, Sukuna noted after his battle with Higuruma that the bodies of those that he previously defeated had suddenly disappeared after seeing Ui Ui and Kirara grabbing the deceased body of Higuruma. From this, he deduced that Ui Ui's Cursed Technique is teleportation, which he uses to transport himself and the bodies away to an unspecified location far away from Sukuna for some reason.

I bet that brat's Cursed Technique is teleportation. They're probably the reason Satoru Gojo's body vanished.

Though it's possible that they're simply gathering the bodies to keep them away from the battlefield, the far more likely explanation may be to help in the fight in some way. Many believe that Ui Ui is gathering the bodies and bringing them to Shoko Ieri, who would somehow use her powers of using Reverse Cursed Technique on others to heal them. Though this seems very far-fetched, it is an idea that has been in everyone's minds ever since Gojo died.

By using a Binding Vow in exchange for her own life, Shoko could amp up her abilities to their strongest potential in a final act to bring back the fallen sorcerers to defeat Sukuna in a combined assault. The strength of all the current fighters mixed with that of Gojo, Higuruma, and Kashimo may just be what the heroes need to make a difference. This point is further compounded by the fact that, as of Chapter 252, Yuta was also teleported away by Ui Ui despite not being dead, showing that he is most probably going away to get healed.

Uraume is one of the strongest ancient sorcerers in the Culling Game and Sukuna's closest ally. Here's a closer look at their Cursed Technique.

Now, either all the dead sorcerers would be coming back, or the remaining Cursed Energy that Higuruma and Kashimo's bodies have could be used to help bring back Gojo, who alone was powerful enough to put Sukuna in more danger than all the sorcerers since his death have. However, if the former were to happen, it would bring the story full circle beautifully, as the combined strength of the Jujutsu sorcerers would finally kill Sukuna, someone who existed in the most selfish state possible and was alone his entire life.
