A new trademark filing with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office suggests that Journey to the Savage Planet 2 is in development. The original game was one of the first titles to join Google's Stadia Games and Entertainment lineup in 2020. And despite its small budget, it met the publishers' sales expectations. However, like other Google-acquired games, Journey to the Savage Planet was abandoned by the tech giant when Stadia was shut down.

Journey to the Savage Planet was Stadia exclusive for one year after its launch back in 2020. The game follows a space explorer who, after a rough landing, must explore an unknown planet's flora and fauna. Players are encouraged to explore the map freely, with some areas requiring Metroidvania-style progress and upgrades to access. Despite mixed initial reviews, the game built a fanbase, especially after it became available on other platforms like Xbox Game Pass and Steam. The good news is that new documents hint at a sequel, suggesting Journey to the Savage Planet may be making a comeback.

The new trademark documents coincide with Raccoon Logic listing Journey to the Savage Planet as the company's first published title on its website. The studio is also hiring more developers to work on its new IP, which, according to these documents, might be a sequel to the beloved Journey to the Savage Planet.

What to Expect from Journey to the Savage Planet’s Sequel

As players know, Journey to the Savage Planet had different endings. However, in all of them, the main character raises questions about the future of space exploration and their next mission. By looking at the trademarked IP, Revenge of the Savage Planet, it seems likely that the player will return to ARY-25 for more exploration or to unravel more mysteries. Another possibility is dealing with the consequences of Martin Tweed’s attempt to create his own planet.
