Majors first appeared in the Disney Plus show Loki and became important in the MCU franchise. After his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, he was supposed to continue as Kang in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, Majors was removed from the Kang role after being found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. Since then, several rumors about who will replace him in the MCU have surfaced. Now, Marvel Studios is considering an A-lister to portray the character.

Recent reports suggest the Avengers 5 big bad isn't Doctor Doom, but may be an entirely new Kang variant.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is reportedly considering John David Washington to replace Majors as Kang the Conqueror. However, it is important to note that Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige haven’t confirmed this rumor, and the final decision is yet to be made. The news of John David Washington being considered for the role comes a few weeks after it was reported that Colman Domingo was being eyed for the Kang role, but Marvel Studios is seemingly still deciding. John David Washington gained prominence after his role in the 2018 film BlacKkKlansman, in which he portrayed the role of Ron Stallworth. He earned a nomination at the Golden Globes for his performance. Since then, he has garnered appreciation from critics and audiences for his roles in Tenet, Malcolm & Marie, Beckett, and The Creator.

Washington being considered for the Kang role in Avengers 5 is interesting. Fans have been rallying behind the superstar to portray the comic book character. However, one of the most interesting aspects of his casting was how his father, acclaimed actor Denzel Washington, is also a fan-favorite choice to play Kang. Many fans have shared fan art depicting Denzel Washington as the formidable villain. Although this is the first time John David Washington has come into this conversation, the actor has previously teased that he would be interested in portraying a comic book character. In 2020, he mentioned in an interview with Nerd Reactor that his decision depends on "who's asking." Perhaps being in a major MCU movie could be tempting enough for John David Washington.
