Throughout the series, Jolyne faces many opponents who try to stop her from achieving her goals, but most of the time she comes out on top. Normally, Jolyne uses Stone Free's power to overwhelm her enemies. However, there are a few cases where she is forced to rack her brains. Jolyne's intelligence is put to the test several times by the smartest characters in Stone Ocean.

7 Ermes

Ermes with her Stand, Kiss

Ermes was the first person to befriend Jolyne inside the prison. She had purposely committed crimes to get locked inside the same prison as her sister's killer, Sports Maxx. Being an ally of Jolyne meant that Ermes had to fight against plenty of enemies, and sometimes her Stand wasn't sufficient.

In those situations, Ermes had to use her brain. One such instance where Ermes combined her Stand and guile came during her fight with Thunder McQueen, who was continuously trying to kill both of them. Ermes used her Stand's ability to create copies of an object, which enabled her to knock out McQueen's discs. In addition to being crafty, Ermes was also very perceptive.

6 Weather Report

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean Jolyne Cujou's allies Weather Report

Weather Report is arguably one of the strongest characters in the JoJo series. He was one of Jolyne's main allies in Stone Ocean. Weather Report played a massive role in the fight against Lang Rangler. He used his Stand to create special suits that paved the way for Jolyne to take down Pucci's goon. Weather Report's Stand and wit made him the biggest threat to Pucci.

The priest was well aware of Weather Report's true power, so he tried everything to keep his brother's memory disc locked away. When Weather Report finally got his hands on the disc, he unleashed Heavy Weather and nearly killed Pucci. Unfortunately, before Weather Report could finish the job, he was hit by a car.

5 Anasui

Anasui from Stone Ocean anime

Anasui was head over heels in love with Jolyne, and he was willing to go to any lengths to protect her from any harm. Normally, Anasui remained calm even in precarious situations, but when Jolyne's life was at risk, he would become very reckless.

Anasui often utilized Diver Down to lay a trap for his enemies. Most of the time, these traps would work flawlessly, although certain situations required Anasui to do some more planning. Thankfully, he was an intelligent man who could come up with a strategy in a very short amount of time. Anasui and his Stand played a crucial role during the final battle against Enrico Pucci, who even admitted that he needed to eliminate Anasui to secure victory.

4 Jolyne Cujoh

Jolyne Cujoh-The Newest Jojo Using Her Power

Considering the fact that Jolyne already had a strong Stand, she could have decided to rely completely on its power, but she didn't. Over the course of the series, Jolyne showed her ingenuity in various fights.

While her Stand was physically strong, it did not always work against her opponents. So, whenever the situation required Jolyne to switch her approach, she was easily able to change her fighting style. Even without her Stand, Jolyne was a formidable fighter because of her intelligence. The manga focused more on her physical power, while the anime highlighted her intelligence.

3 Enrico Pucci

Enrico Pucci in Stone Ocean Anime

Enrico Pucci is the main antagonist of Stone Ocean. To most people inside the prison, he came off as an ordinary priest who yearned to help others in their difficult times. However, the truth was completely different. Pucci was an ardent believer in DIO's principles and wanted to achieve what his friend couldn't.

With his meticulous planning, Pucci managed to force Jotaro into visiting Jolyne in prison. He exploited Jotaro's love for his daughter and made him commit a grave mistake that allowed Pucci to swipe his discs. Pucci also manipulated other Stand users into doing his bidding, which shows how cunning he was.

2 DIO

DIO in Stone Ocean

DIO was not alive during the time that Stone Ocean took place, but he did appear in Pucci's flashbacks. DIO was yet again influential to the story, as it was his idea that made Pucci chase after Jolyne and Jotaro.

DIO told Pucci how he could achieve "heaven" by awakening the strongest Stand in the series. In addition to his knowledge about attaining "heaven," DIO knew a lot about the different kinds of Stands and how they functioned. Everything that DIO said to Pucci helped the latter evolve Whitesnake into Made In Heaven.

1 Jotaro Kujo

Jotaro Kujo inside the prison

Jotaro Kujo is undoubtedly the smartest character in Stone Ocean. He was able to discern the abilities of his opponents after just taking a look at them. Jotaro would then find a counter to their abilities and defeat them with minimal effort. He was able to figure out that they were under attack by two different Stands. He was one step ahead of his opponents, and it was extremely difficult for them to get the better of him.

Jotaro also had a great deal of knowledge about Stands and how they worked, and it was one of the main reasons why Pucci attacked him. Some of Jotaro's choices in Stone Ocean were quite reckless. However, he only made these decisions in order to save his daughter. These selections signified that he was not the cold person that he once was.
