Jojo's Bizarre Adventure part five follows the journey of fifteen-year-old Giorno Giovanna and his dreams of becoming a gang boss. Though, after meeting Passione's Bruno Bucciarati and his gang, Giorno and his stand get more than they could have imagined.

Giorno's stand, Golden Experience, has the ability to reshape matter into a living creature. The majority of the time he would transform items into plants or small animals. He would do this to track, hide items, and occasionally heal one of his teammates. After piercing Golden Experience with the stand arrow (it is unclear if it was a generic stand arrow or a requiem arrow), Golden Experience transformed into Golden Experience Requiem.

What is Its Ability?

Like many other stands in Jojo, Golden Experience Requiem has a confusing ability. The best way to think about his power is being the opposite of Golden Experience. Instead of creating life from matter, Requiem reverts them to a state of zero. It's hard to say precisely what this state is, but it is a point that removes all willpower and action. Taking the person back to before they were real. If a person is killed by Golden Experience Requiem, then they will be forced into a death loop.

This death loop is like an alternate reality where the person is killed in every way possible due to Requiem's ability to force them back to zero. More specifically, back to the point right before they were killed. In the anime, fans can see that Diavolo is extremely confused during each reset. He remembers the last point before being placed into the death loop. Meaning that every time the death loop happens, Diavolo will be looking for Giorno to kill him but instead die himself. Though he'll never remember any of the deaths, he's experienced, trapped in a state of unknowing.

Besides this ability to revert things to zero, Golden Experience Requiem is also faster and more robust than its previous form. This is displayed when Golden Experience Requiem shot a rock faster than a human eye could see. He also can create life-like his last form but on a larger scale. Seen when he turned a crumbling pillar into a pile of scorpions.

Never Seen Again

Golden Experience Requiem can be considered one if not the most powerful stand in the JoJo universe. So, Araki decided to only have it appear for one fight. Yes, Golden Experience Requiem made its lone appearance during the final battle with Diavolo, and proceeded to completely devastate him. Diavolo was outwitting the Bucciarati gang left and right throughout all of part five until Giorno got the arrow. After this fight, Golden Experience Requiem isn't seen again.

Why introduce such a powerful character later in the show and not have it appear again later? It makes Golden Experience Requiem feel like a side character, used only to end part five. Of course, that is the character's point, but Araki has shown that he is willing to carry characters over to other parts. Jotaro has been seen in every part at least once since part three. In addition to all of this, Giorno is both a Joestar and a Brando. This means that Giorno is one of the few remaining connections between the rivals of part one.

In terms of a bigger story and connections between all the characters, having Giorno return in future entries would help with the world's connectivity. Having part five introduce Giorno's character and stand would make sense, especially if Araki had included him in part six. Sadly, this isn't the case, but fans have been introduced to the idea of overpowered stands. Perhaps the goal is to continue developing more complicated and powerful stands as the series goes, and Golden Experience Requiem was an experiment.

It's unlikely that fans will ever find the answer to this question. Still, viewers had the opportunity to watch Golden Experience Requiem in action, even for a short period of time. The reveal of the stand's power allows for the Jojo universe to expand, knowing that alternate realities and dimensions can be reached by people, even if it does mean being killed by Golden Experience Requiem. This begs the question of where others stand, like The Hand and Cream, who have dimension-shaping powers of their own. Are all these dimensions interconnected somehow, or are they just voids filled with whatever crosses The Hand and Cream's paths? Excellent food for thought, and if fans want to dive back into the world of JoJo to explore answers, they can stream them on Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll.
