John Wick: Chapter 4 is fresh from a fantastic record-breaking opening weekend for the franchise. Though this latest sequel goes a long way to unwrap the mysteries behind this world of assassins, it’s in The Continental series spinoff where fans will get most of their questions answered.

The Continental was announced before the release of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, with Lionsgate ultimately deciding on the approach presented by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons by following a young Winston's rise to power in the 1970s. Since then, the series has added actors Colin Woodell and Mel Gibson for the lead roles, with Ayomide Adegun set to play a younger version of the late Lance Reddick's Charon.

In an exclusive interview by Collider with John Wick producer Erica Lee, the former explained that part of The Continental's appeal comes from “learning about the hotels and the Easter eggs” that help shine on the inner workings of the High Table and perhaps even John's childhood. Lee admits that some pitches for The Continental explored continuing with an alternate timeline. However, the chosen approach will allow fans to learn more about the iconic hotels, such as “What is the staff like? How do you get into The Continental? How are the gold coins made?”

Despite its ambitious nature, The Continental will only be three episodes long. Each entry will run for 90 minutes when the show eventually releases later this year on Peackock's streaming service in the United States or Amazon Prime Video in the rest of the world. Besides The Continental spinoff, a film titled Ballerina starring Ana de Armas is also in production.

One key aspect of the John Wick spinoff is whether a TV show can match the insane levels of action displayed in the movie saga, especially Chapter 4. In the week before John Wick 4's premiere, news of Lance Reddick's death shocked fans of the series and many gamers worldwide, so for many, getting to know more of Charon will be enough reason to follow this spinoff.

Keanu Reeves has addressed John Wick's fate after the fourth film's shocking ending, and though director Chad Stahelski won't be back for the series, The Continental is shaping up like must-watch content.
