There was no ambiguity with this ending, but still, fans can’t get enough of the John Wick franchise. Stahelski finally addressed the possibility of a continuation when he spoke with Collider. “The idea was always that, yes, John Wick ends his journey like he does at the end of the movie, and that was gonna be the end of that for now,” the director said.

Keanu Reeves John Wick Movie

As franchises of this nature have gone, John Wick has had a good run. First premiering in 2014, it is the rare shoot-'em-up movie franchise that lasts for a decade. And poor Reeves deserves a break. During one of the best John Wick fights, John is forced to go up what appears to be a million stairs before he is kicked down more than once. Undoubtedly, that was painful for John Wick and Reeves. An iconic actor can only go through so many films. And just because John Wick has ended, it doesn’t mean the universe is ending. Spin-offs have already made the rounds. Peacock's The Continental: From the World of John Wick was a three-night event that showed how Winston (Ian McShane) got control over the hotel. The concise story was filled with as much action and lore as the films.

Fans can also expect a feature film in the future. Finally, the world of John Wick will have a female protagonist in the upcoming movie, Ballerina. Starring Ana de Armas in the title role, viewers will see another assassin bathed in blood as the character seeks vengeance upon the deaths of her family. These ventures allow Reeves the freedom to pursue other career paths while also connecting John Wick to the spin-off. Reeves reportedly has a cameo in Ballerina, and should he want to return to the fold, the door is always open. However, in light of how often Reeves has been kicked around in these films, it’s okay that he takes a break.

John Wick 4 is available on Amazon Prime Video.
