Since the The Last of Us 2 leaked, multiple members of the studio Naughty Dog have made comments on the infamous leaks that spoiled part of the game. Now the voice actor for Joel, Troy Baker, is coming forward to give his opinion.

The Last of Us 2 has been one of the games that people have been most looking forward to since its predecessor's release in 2013. Although the sequel was confirmed in 2016, delays led to the actual release date being pushed back to June 2020. In April, a huge The Last of Us 2 leak perpetrated by hackers let loose key narrative details and plot points.

Many potential players who saw the leaks now feel that the game is ruined. Troy Baker's opinion, however, is that the leaks don't matter. In an Instagram Live Q&A, Baker asked, "You really think that [experiencing the game] can be undone by a couple of screenshots? Think six years of development can be undone by that?" Baker also lauded Naughty Dog's many accomplishments, experience, and awards and added that players just "have to experience [the game]".

Neil Druckmann, director of Naughty Dog, seems to agree with Troy Baker. Druckmann responded to the leaks by assuring players that no leaks could take away from the experience players would get when they played the actual game. These are encouraging words to hear coming from the leader of a hugely successful studio whose first game in the series definitely didn't disappoint.

The Last of Us did incredibly well, and the majority of its playerbase enjoyed the game immensely. It makes sense that a sequel, made by the same successful studio no less, would be of a similar quality. And of course, since the game has taken so long to make, fans will expect the game to be polished to perfection.

However, recent criticisms of Naughty Dog's crunch culture and its adverse effect on the employees have divided many of the studio's fans. Although fans are clearly very excited to play The Last of Us 2, many are concerned about the toll taken on the people working on the game. Other fans were unhappy with what narrative spoilers the leaks did seem to reveal. Regardless, fans will just have to play the game for themselves when it does finally release and make their own judgments about whether Baker and Druckmann were right.

The Last of Us 2 will be available June 19th, 2020 for the PS4.
