Jennifer Aniston has shifted her focus to grittier dramas, signing on to heavy productions such as Apple TV Plus' The Morning Show and the upcoming sports biopic The Fixer by 20th Century Studios. But that doesn't mean she's done with rom-coms, and she has Captain America star Sebastian Stan in mind to help her make that grand return.

Speaking with Stan, the star of the MCU's Captain America franchise, Aniston said that she would do a rom-com with Stan "in a second" if the opportunity came up. The two actors arrived at the topic of rom-coms after discussing their favorite film genres. Stan mentioned that one of his favorite films of all time was Notting Hill - the Roger Michell romance story starring Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock- and that he would live in Notting Hill, the film, forever if he could.

During Variety's Actors on Actors, Aniston then expressed her disappointment in Hollywood for not making enough of them these days. She wondered why rom-coms have "such a bad rap" these days since, in her experience, they have always been fun to make. That's when she suggested to Stan that they should both make one together, perhaps one that is set in New York City and stars the two of them as a love team. "Great, we're gonna do a rom-com ... We're bringing them back," she added.

Aniston and Stan are no strangers to the rom-com genre. Aniston has been a part of many such films throughout her career, from Along Came Polly in 2004 with Ben Stiller to Just Go With It in 2011 with Adam Sandler. Stan has also been in a fair share of rom-coms himself, including Tony n' Tina'sWedding in 2004 with Mila Kunis and (arguably) Rachel Getting Married in 2008 with Anne Hathaway. Given their similar experiences, both of them would pair nicely together in a new-age rom-com.

Of course, it would be just as exciting to see the opposite scenario come true, where Aniston appears in a Marvel Studios film alongside Stan's Winter Soldier. With so many Hollywood veterans signing on to superhero projects nowadays, it isn't too farfetched to think that Aniston will one day be involved in a related production.

Catch Aniston on The Morning Show, now streaming on Apple TV Plus. Meanwhile, Stan stars in Pam & Tommy, one of his latest television endeavors with Hulu.

The Captain America films are now available on Disney Plus.
