Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the sequel to the live-action Aquaman film that was released in theaters a few years back. Despite Jason Momoa being fully committed to the Aquaman role, the actor recently alluded to hearing news of a DC project that's in development, which is a "dream come true."

Aquaman is a DC comic book superhero and an original member of the Justice League. The character is set to get a sequel film, which was pushed back, but it appears Momoa has another DC project in the works now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are running the DC film and TV division.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Momoa hinted at the secret DC project when asked what the future holds for the Justice League and Aquaman. "There are a lot of cool things that will be coming up. One of my dreams come true will be happening under [Gunn and Safran's] watch. So, stay tuned," Mamoa said. In a separate post on Instagram, Momoa released a video in which he said, "some of the greatest news in my life just happened!" He concluded the post by blowing a kiss to the camera and saying, "You know who you are, maestro!" However, Momoa also said he can't say anything about the news.

Many are trying to figure out what it is that the actor is alluding to, and some expect it to be a movie around the galactic bounty hunter, Lobo, who many wanted to see Momoa play. Another guess people have is that Zack Snyder is returning to DC, which would be great news for Momoa considering how close the two appear to be. Finally, some think that Ray Fisher's Cyborg is back due to Walter Hamada's exit, meaning that fans may finally get the Justice League they've been waiting for.

Only time will tell what will come from this and hopefully, it's something that fans will equally enjoy as much as the actor himself did. Momoa usually has a similar viewpoint as the fans, so if it's something that he wants to see then it's likely something the fans have been dreaming of as well. Let's hope the new leadership under Gunn will bring a better era in DC films that the fans can enjoy.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25, 2023.
