Peacemaker's finale wrapped up an exciting season for DC's most unfancied superhero, even making room for some names for Christopher Smith to yell at. However, director James Gunn has revealed that cut some wild cameo footage, and has no plans of dialing it back as far as guest appearances go.

Considering it was HBO Max's first attempt at releasing its own superhero series for DC, Peacemaker received markedly positive reviews from critics and viewers, as well as very solid ratings for the streaming service. Thus, as of now, Peacemaker stands among DC's most prized assets, with the showed being renewed for a second season that could introduce even more obscure DC characters like Bat-Mite.

And fans can definitely count on Gunn to make that happen, because the Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind recently told GamesRadar that Peacemaker season two will feature “more connections in some other stuff as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows at HBO Max. So those [cameos] will keep coming," Justice League not guaranteed. Gunn also took this opportunity to highlight how much footage he managed to film with Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa. "Ezra went on – and I'm not kidding – for 16 minutes about Aquaman having sex with fish," Gunn said, in reference to one of Peacemaker's more scandalous claims about the Justice League's members.

On this occasion, Gunn also commented that he really pushed for that epic cameo to be possible, although in the end it simply came down to everyone loving the script and how the scene was put together. Ultimately, Miller and Momoa were the two Justice League members to reprise their roles in the surprise cameo. Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot likely missed out due to scheduling issues, while Batman's spot is currently vacant and Henry Cavill is likely on his way out from the DCEU.

Those Superman and Wonder Woman silhouettes probably didn’t require the full might of Peacemaker's impressive VFX team, but Gunn did mention that more Justice League cameos aren’t necessarily on the cards. It’s not as if Peacemaker doesn’t have plenty of other potential plotlines to pursue when it comes back for a second round, especially after the superhero’s unique personality filled an empty role many fans didn't even knew they wanted.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable things about Peacemaker is how well it did by barely relying on being connected to DC's bigger properties. Nevertheless, it still remains to be seen what kind of repercussions will stem from the show onto the rest of the flailing DCEU, though The Flash might have a bigger say on that matter.

Peacemaker season 1 is now available on HBO Max.
