James Gunn's DC slate was officially unveiled after months of speculation. The new DC Studios franchise includes feature films and television shows, and it will launch with the release of Superman Legacy.Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran announced the initial slate of 10 DC Universe projects in "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters." However, the duo noted that these 10 projects only make up the first part of "Gods and Monsters," not its entirety.RELATED: Matt Reeves Teases Possibility Of Condiment King In The Batman 2Gunn's DC slate will launch with an animated TV series titled Creature Commandos. The series is based on the DC Comics property of the same name and will include The Suicide Squad's Weasel and Rick Flagg Sr. Creature Commandos will lead into live-action and then back to animation, a plan that applies to all forthcoming DCU projects and the actors who star in them. Gunn wrote all seven episodes of the series, which is already in production. Additional TV projects include an Amanda Waller series starring Viola Davis, a Green Lantern TV series featuring Hal Jordan and John Stewart that is described as a "True Detective’-type mystery," a Booster Gold show, and a political drama centred on Themiscyra titled Paradise Lost.

Although Creature Commandos and the Amanda Waller series will be released first, Superman Legacy truly launches Gunn and Safran's vision. Written by Gun, the film will not be an origin story and instead focuses on Superman as he tries to balance his Kryptonian heritage and human upbringing. Safran noted that he hopes Gunn can be persuaded to direct the film. A Batman movie based on Grant Morrison's The Brave and the Bold is also part of the slate, and it is not connected to Robert Pattinson's The Batman trilogy. A new actor will be cast to play the DCU's Barman, who finds himself partnered with the son he never knew he had, Damien Wayne, in what Gunn and Safran call "a very strange father/son story."

The DCU movie slate also includes The Authority, based on the superhero team of the same from DC's Wildstorm imprint. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a space-set film based on Tom King's comic book series, and a Swamp Thing movie. Gunn notes that although the DCU movies are connected, they will have different tones so "each set of filmmakers brings their own aesthetic to these films."

That was just the tip of the iceberg. Gunn also said Peacemaker season 2 is delayed because of his work writing some of the new DCU projects, the multiverse concept will allow them to use the same actors for certain characters, and Ezra Miller's The Flash will officially reset the DC Universe. Needless to say, it's going to be an eventful few years for DC fans.

Superman Legacy is tentatively scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025.
