Being an aspiring actor isn't easy; getting into character, and even landing an audition can be challenging. James Corden reveals that even he had trouble when auditioning for Lord of the Rings, but actors have to start somewhere right?

James Corden's popular Late Late Show debuted back in 2015 with recent news about his show coming to an end in 2023 audiences have been wondering what's next for the talk show host. and ever since then Corden had to compete with other popular late night shows in order to get his show up and running. The late night host created popular segments like Carpool Karaoke, Crosswalk Musicals and the controversial Spill Your Guts. Corden has gained more media attention over the last year, due to bad behavior at a restaurant, not being culturally attuned and of course, his late night show coming to an end. While Corden focuses solely on his talk show coming to an end he reminisces about the time he completely bombed an audition.

While on the Happy Sad Confused podcast the talk show (reported via Rolling Stone) host reflected on the time he auditioned for the role of Samwise Gamgee, the loyal friend and sidekick to Frodo Baggins. Josh Horowitz, the host of the podcast asked "Is it true that one of your first auditions was for Lord of the Rings?" Corden then responded yes. When asked by Horowitz how it went Corden responded with "not good." Corden went on to say that "Everyone in London was auditioning for Lord of the Rings. Everyone."

The late-night host even went with some friends to audition together. The talk show host and his friends did get one call back, but after that they never heard from the casting directors again. Corden continued to go through the rigorous audition process before telling Hororwitz he didn't get the part of the beloved Samwise. It's hard to imagine Lord of the Rings without Sean Astin, just envisioning James Corden in Astin's place isn't possible. The franchise touched the hearts of many and while every actor wanted to become a household name, Astin just really brought the character to life from the novels to the screen.

It is safe to say James Corden is doing just fine in his career, even with his talk show ending, he still has many projects lined up. While on the podcast he elaborated on how much he's missed acting and that he's really excited to get back to those acting roots and really make an impact on viewers at home.
