Jagged Alliance 3 from developer Haemimont Games was announced 10 months ago. Since then, publisher THQ Nordic has been quiet on the tactical RPG's development, allowing Haemimont the time it needed to bring Jagged Alliance 3 to fruition. On Friday, THQ Nordic gave Jagged Alliance fans their next look at the sequel during its annual Digital Showcase. A new gameplay trailer for Jagged Alliance 3 offered a look at what the tactical RPG looks like in motion.

A three-minute trailer from Jagged Alliance 3 delved into the tactical RPG's turn-based combat and various gameplay systems. Genre fans will be excited to see the staples of Jagged Alliance combat returning, investing Action Points for higher precision and selecting body parts to target with different types of gunfire. Players also have a range of weapons to use, including explosives. Further, players will have to gather and scavenge for rewards alongside combat mid-match.

Above individual combat encounters, Jagged Alliance 3 will also feature a much larger conflict for players to delve into. In the latest trailer from THQ Nordic, this system is teased at the end with a large map and a grid dividing areas into red, blue, and gray sections. This is Grand Chien and players will have to fight to control territory, recruit multiple parties of mercenaries, and stave off attacks from enemy forces. The player's choices will impact what happens to Grand Chien and the people within it.

While it isn't touched on in the new trailer, Jagged Alliance 3 will also support cooperative multiplayer. Exact details aren't available, but the game's updated description confirms that Jagged Alliance 3 players can experience the campaign alongside friends via an online co-op mode. How forces are divided and how progression is shared are questions yet to be answered, but at least Jagged Alliance 3 players will have the option to go online and play with friends.

As noted, Jagged Alliance 3 is being developed by Haemimont Games, a name that should be very familiar to city-building and strategy game fans. Haemimont is responsible for a trio of titles in the Tropico franchise, Imperium Romanum and several other Rome-based city-builders, and most recently Victor Vran. Jagged Alliance 3 is certainly a new style of game for Haemimont, but it certainly has the experience to deliver something special.

For the time being, Jagged Alliance 3 still has no announced release window. Given the step forward fans can see from the announcement cinematic to this new gameplay trailer 10 months later, it's clear progress is moving forward rapidly. Don't be surprised to hear more about Jagged Alliance 3 from THQ Nordic in the months to come.
