The platforming in It Takes Two can be extremely forgiving due to a generous checkpoint system. While players should have no difficulty overcoming the platforming challenges throughout the duration of the game, there is one optional minigame that is bound to leave some players frustrated.

In It Takes Two's Cuckoo Clock chapter, Cody and May must navigate the interior of the clock using a variety of time-related devices. Unlike previous chapters, the Cuckoo Clock chapter is almost entirely devoid of combat and focuses exclusively on puzzle-solving and platforming.

After a short introduction to the mechanics of the level, players will eventually make their way to a large open area that is reminiscent of an old Bavarian village. On the opposite side of the town from where players entered, Cody and May will find a horse riding minigame, and a platforming challenge next to it called the Helltower.

To complete the challenge, players must climb a series of rotating platforms to reach the top of the tower. It is important to note, that unlike other achievements/trophies in the game which unlock for both players simultaneously, for the "Platforming Prodigy" trophy/achievement, each player must complete the challenge individually.

helltower

The first three platforms on the tower shouldn't prove to be a challenge for most players. During this section, players can easily jump from one level to the next as the platforms continue a smooth rotation around the tower.

For the following two platforms, players will have to carefully plan their jumps in order to avoid restarting the tower. During this section, the platforms will shoot out of one side of the tower, before retracting and shooting out of the opposite side. After jumping onto one of these platforms it is important to quickly maneuver the next platform as remaining in place for too long will cause the player to fall.

After reaching the platform that rotates in 45-degree intervals players must climb the clamping walls. For this section, it is important to wait for the walls to clamp together before jumping onto the wall and remaining in place. When the walls clamp back together the player can jump to the opposite side and remain in place. It is important during this section to only attempt one jump for each time the walls clamp together.

During the final four platforms, players must alternate between a series of platforms that rotate smoothly around the tower and platforms that rotate in 45-degree increments. This section is significantly easier than the previous wall jumping section so as long as players time their jumps effectively they should reach the top without any issue.

After reaching the top of the tower, players will unlock the Platforming Prodigy achievement/trophy and can interact with an optional fireworks display to celebrate. It is also important to note that before players progress through the area, they should also unlock the missable Force Triangulated achievement/trophy, which is unlocked for discovering the Zelda easter egg nearby.

It Takes Two is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
