Josef Fares made a big splash at The Game Awards a few years ago when he used his time at the event to criticize the Oscars while promoting his innovative co-op game A Way Out. Fares appeared at The Game Awards once again this year, this time to show off the next game from Hazelight Studios, yet another innovative co-op title in the form of It Takes Two.

Fares previously announced It Takes Two at the EA Play event this past summer, but this is the first time fans were able to get a real good look at the story and gameplay. In It Takes Two, players take on the role of a couple named Cody and May, who have been fighting with each other. Through some magical spell of some kind, the two are transformed into dolls, and have to learn how to work together in order to survive. The game seems to feature a wide variety of gameplay mechanics, ranging from third-person shooting to platforming and much more, which is what fans have come to expect from Fares' games.

It was also confirmed that It Takes Two will support the Friend's Pass, which will allow players to invite their friends to play the game, even if they don't own a copy themselves. With both online and local split-screen co-op supported, this should ensure that players are able to enjoy It Takes Two the way the developers meant for it to be played.

Fares and his team have produced award-winning work with titles like A Way Out and previously, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, so anticipation is high for the studio's next game. Here's hoping it lives up to the hype when it releases early next year.

It Takes Two launches March 26, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
